Jim Montgomery on Bruins Game 2 Loss to Leafs, Decision to START Ullmark | Postgame

BOSTON — The Toronto Maple Leafs edged out the Boston Bruins 3-2 on Monday night, evening their first-round playoff series at one game each. Bruins coach Jim Montgomery reflected on the game, pinpointing a crucial stretch: “I liked our second period until we took the penalties. They got rolling once they got on the power play. They get juice from their power play.” Despite the loss, Montgomery expressed confidence in his decision to start Linus Ullmark as the goaltender for Game 2, stating, “No second guesses, he was terrific.”

  1. Okay so you identified the issues, now be a coach and fix it for Game 3! These guys were down 1-0 last year and won 4 in a row…don’t let it happen again!

  2. Brutal game. Bruins didnt want to play hard tonight. Bunch of bums taking periods off. Tell Boston the playoffs started. You gotta beat Them w out Nylander!? Wtf.. Leafs will blow us off the ice w out Peak. Ullmark just cant get it done. Top 6 sux! Coyle, Freddie, Zacha great job losing home ice. Im sick of this jekyl and hyde team. No consistency. Why cant they play as hard as they did game 1!? Its playoffs! Find a way! Im so disappoimted in this team not protecting home ice …imo you gave the series away bc good luck beating them w Nylander im already calling a 5 to 2 beatdown game 3 in Toronto. Lrafs win both games at home to take a 3 to 1 lead now Nylander is back. Bruins arent beating this team w Peak out and their top 6 playing like the bums they have been as of late.

  3. 8 years going where they star a series great and then go out the window. Got ok scoring tonight need to improve. Sway needs to be in rest of way ulmark looked exhausted and while made some great saves looked bad once leafs took lead. 8 years straight were talking of being possibly gone before an ecf run need to change something.

  4. Pretty bad to lose to the leafs at home, either team is going to have a hard time in the next rd against Florida or tampa

  5. Matthews was the difference.

Not that many great players. He’s one. Love Pasta but Matthews in the middle allows him to take a game over as opposed to merely being a game breaker

  6. I know everybody will probably gaslight me for saying this since Ullmark played well enough to give us a chance but this guy simply needs to stop screwing up the lineup after a dominant win. Montgomery is showing a tendency to overthink things in the playoffs

  7. Hey Montgomery, try leaving the lines alone. You scrambled the lines all night. They didn't even know who they were going out with. You said they look discombobulated, know wonder. You got out coached last year against Florida, don't let it happen again this year. Why make all the switches after game 1. Doesn't make any sense.

  8. The Bruins did not hit for 3 periods and they did not shadow Mathew’s and then Mathew’s beat the Bruins. Shame the coaching failed to shadow Mathew’s and they lost. Bruins win when they hit.

  9. Monty doesn't sugarcoat anything, which I respect in him. Hey, we whooped the Leafs in the first game. They regrouped and made the necessary adjustments, so have to give them props. It's on to Toronto where we have to take at least one game, preferably the first one. I just don't want to see the B's mail it in, like they appeared to do for too many games in 2nd half of the regular season. Go Bruins!!! 🏒🏒🏒

  10. As a leafs fan, I cannot believe the amount of bruins fans in here that are actually worried about their team in this first round of playoffs. You guys are going to win the series over the leafs anyways guys. Everyone knows that. Just relax lmao.

  11. Can you please not post the game results in the titles. I was unable to watch the game last night, was planning to watch the recording tongiht and this title spoiled the results. It is incredibly frustrating

  12. Boston is going to be in trouble when Nylander, and McMann are back! Where I have the utmost respect for the Boston goaltending, Toronto's ability to ice THREE solid scoring lines is going, with the Reaves line to back them up, it's going to be a serious strain on the Boston D! Ultimately, it'll be Swayman who can beat the Leafs in this series….but can he hold out..!?

    GO LEAFS GO!!

  13. Why do the Bruins fall apart every year in the playoffs????? Exactly why I don't watch all year cause they always get bounced early so who cares they are in first place throughout the year!!!!

  14. our problem all season has been our inability to get the puck out of the zone…..Just keep ringing it around the boards to the other team…ya that works great..shit my pee wee coach can teach how to defend that, we have no outbreak plan on D whatsoever.

  15. Boston can’t score 5on5, look at all of their goals. It’s either an absolutely 11/10 f*ck up or giveaway from Toronto, or a powerplay.

If the leafs get disciplined and Boston doesn’t wake up then c ya later.

Also nylander (#1 playoff player last few years for Toronto) and McCann (X factor type playoff guy) come back then yeah good luck lol

  16. Boston needs to stop diving 😂😂 as for getting away with the one that the goalie blocked off the camera view was a classic boston cheat😊

  17. i cant believe how classless marchand is diving like he got shot and to the leaf fans that had way to fn much to say shut the f22k up you dont deserve nothin anyway and 80 percent of you asses watched maybe 5 games a year

  18. Looks like the four players they lost or let go weren’t the problem. In fact two of them were the top Bruins scorers.
