Rushing d men and goalies can really backfire. I think we are close with some of those guys but mostly why we didn't roster Simon all year. We also need a tough guy and a serious net front guy
Look at how aggressive Vegas has been and tell me that the Wings couldn't do something more than they have done. I get it but at some point Stevie has to be aggressive

First, I'm a presently disabled IT guy… what exactly is going on with that computer? Maybe I can offer some troubleshooting, if it's not already out for repair or you're not already repairing it. Second, definitely agree that if the goal is playoffs next season, a big splash is a must. That's the question though, right? Is Stevie trying to make the playoffs next season? If so, we gotta get rid of the Holl contract.
I'm guessing next season will probably be a bit of a step back, especially if they try bringing in 5 rookies at once. But I think the 25/26 season should be more promising.

COVID was a great point from Scott. When the world is on pause the standards no longer apply. Something like that causes people to remember Hockey is only a game. Hard to maintain focus in that environment. Tampa didn't get there in a year and their farm system looks great. GR may win their cup. The future is bright in Hockeytown for people that understand hockey. Great job, guys. Enjoyed listening this year. Not enough to subscribe but that's something to work toward. 🙂
I don't fault Stevie for not getting the big 1C to alleviate the responsibility from Larkin. No luck in the lottery getting into the top 3 is where you find the stud scorers/centerman. This will be a defense first team going forward. Where Stevie needs to cook is in goalie. that's where a team takes off from. the backstop is key. we suck. our goals against is pathetic. we can score rolling 3 lines but our goalies suck. prospects are 2 years away. too many D prospects could be in play for big move? LGR
Who wouldn't make the team better by spending 25mil each of the last 2 seasons to bring in guys at the end of their career. That's not progress. Next year, if this team takes a step back, you guys will be saying that it is expected.

The people who are still backing the Yzerplan obviously didn't watch any games except for the last few of the season. Either something big needs to happen in the off-season, or we need to start thinking about moving on from Steve. Even if the wings had squeaked in the Rangers would have annihilated them. This is not a playoff team, and anyone who would argue needs to watch more games. That 7 game in a row "sh*t the bed" run when Larkin was hurt showed they are definitely not anywhere near playoff competitors. Even after Larks came back they STILL couldn't win games. People arguing that Kane needs to stay need to understand that we need more than just a scorer for the $$. Kane is not even close to a two way player. He is non existent on the boards, a d that grit is what this team needs.
Sorry if I'm saying what people don't want to hear, but it's the truth. Both this season and last season we had a chance to make the playoffs and Steve did nothing at trade deadline time. Why, he said the price wasn't right! Well,after five years of the Yzerplan not even getting to the playoffs I have to ask….. Is the price right on Steve as a GM?
Yzerman is the perfect Detroit GM – former hockey superstar, former Detroit Captain, his number is retired in Detroit, former Stanley Cup champion as player, patient, intelligent, respected, frugal, attracts great support staff, etc. He's the top 1% of the 1% of the 1% of people who get considered as GM's. It's the extremely rare case where the emperor is also the battle hardened general. Surely, ownership has given him carte blanche with the Detroit Red Wings and we all just need to sit back and watch hockey. It's insane to even think about willingly parting ways with Yzerman.😂

Kaner's ambiguity says a ton about the state of this team…he signed to an up & coming playoff-bound team, that collapsed and looked poorly run. BTW- Yzerman is replacing bad contracts with bad contracts!!!
The excuses, justifications, and general gas lighting are making my ears bleed…StevieY is supposed to be the chest code, the guy to accelerate progress… I don't think 5 years in he's done anything that any other average GM would have done aside from picking Mo at #9.

Its year 5 and we haven't even made the playoffs. I disagree not on the right path. If you're talking contending for a cup, we have a long way to go perid.
This off season will be huge for Steve and the future of the team, but honestly looking at when certain contracts expire and when we actually expect ASP and Cossa to make the team, we are looking at 25’-26’. That will be the determining year on what direction the team should take. By then most of our top end prospects should have had legit chances at NHL level. It will determine if we will be entering our window during the Debrincat contract or not.
It’s all the draft year for Bedards cousin who might be even more of a stud than he is. Depending on how it goes might be the route to take…
I'm very hopeful that Yzerman goes after goalie Conner Ingram from the NEW UTAH WHATEVER. He drafted him while he was in Tampa Bay
