  1. Going to need Mathenson and Savard for at least one more season. Asides from those 2 in my opinion Hutson, Mailloux, Guhle, and Xhekaj should start the season.

  2. We are gratified to have Gorton and Hughes at the helm for their patience in maintaining focus on the mission: “to build a very competitive team for the long term”
Trading a young D of a future; Hutson, Guhle, Mailloux or Reinbacher to “plug a hole” would be madness. Besides that, Barron, Harris and Kovacevic have become dispensable.
BUT 👉🏻 We must at least wait for the lottery to have a complete picture of Kent Hughes' options for this summer.

  3. I think Mathieson and Guehle are locks on the left side and I'd like to see Hutson playing there too. On the right, we keep Savard depending on how the season goes, play Harris there with Mailloux. Rotate Wifi and Barron in and out, trade Honda Civic and Struble. Reinbacher won't be ready for a couple of years at least.

  4. Matheson a 2nd and a 3rd for Brady
Barron and Harris and a third for Zegras.
As much as I love Masson and his points
The end of the season as a -24

  5. I think Montreal should package their two first round picks this year with a defensemen to Edm for Draisaitl, maybe a 2nd dman if required. It solves edm salary cap issues, gives them some youthful cost effective players and room to sign a top 6 forward. and really Mont gets their #1 centre, a power forward they need and build this team for a playoff contender

  6. Ylonen is not coming back to the Habs next year and no place in the roster for Harris. We should trade for Zadina 1 for 1. Maybe Zadina could bounce back here in MTL.

  7. Also could Barron, Dvorak, Norlinder and a 2nd round pick 24 enough for Zegras ? Him and Caufield on the second line could do a lot of damage.

  8. Majority of the young D with NHL experience are 3rd pairing talent at best so the problem is not as "great" as it seems. It's definitely not the case where you could pick any 6 to get good D corps. Realistically with the vets Math & Savy being guaranteed to be in the top 6 and Kova being good as a spare 7th you'd have 4 spots left. Guhle is the only one who's shown top 4 potential. Guys like Reinbacher, Hutson, and Struble can play in Laval without waivers so they could be kept there for asset management purposes even if any of them show they should start in the NHL. So that leaves Harris, Xhekaj, Barron. Hughes still has some time, at least until next training camp before he needs to really start thinking of doing some trading. But he won't get much for them but they may help as an add-on sweetener to a bigger trade.

  9. The value of Mathenson will never be as high as right now,
move it while you can get something big for him,

  10. Kovacevic & Harris should be traded (contracts not renewed) and Matheson should also be traded since his value is very good now. We should be able to get a first pick + for him. Xhekaj is a key player, should never be traded, he brings confidence and solidity to the team + his marketing value is tremendous (the Sheriff) very popular with MTL fans. Trudeau is also a solid prospect and could make the roster this year while Reinbacher still needs to prove himself as a worthy NHL defenseman and will most likely play in Laval next year.

  11. I would not trade Matheson unless Hutson has proven himself over a longer period of time. Let's say at the next trade deadline Hutson is having a great season, Matheson is a more interesting piece to move depending on their standings. Also, it would not suprise me if they convert one of those to a forward Mark Streit style. I am not saying it WILL happen, I'm saying it wouldn't surprise me.

  12. actually they can trade Ghule if they want to go for Dickinson or Levshunov via draft Levshunov has some Dahlin in him Dickinson is also strong, hard to predict there are multiple ways to improve the team but hard to choose the right one

  13. They need Savard and Matheson to mentor 4 or 5 kids. Guhle, Xhekaj, Hutson, Mailloux are my next 4. They all bring something different. Reinbacher can wait. You keep Kovacevic and Struble as 7th and 8th, put on the market Barron, Harris.

  14. Mailloux and Harris should get traded as a package for a real top 6 forward I’d even throw in some forward prospect with it. I also think that if the opposing team would rather Struble than Harris we still do it. You gotta give some to get some and most people are completely overvaluing our players.

  15. Futur habs defence

    Hutson Reinbacher
    Guhle Mailloux
    Xhekaj Barron
    Engstrom

Everyone else is fair game. Got lots of picks too so we can make some interesting offers.. how does a 2025 1st rnd pick and Matheson sound? Or what can a 2025 1st, 2nd and 3rd + Harris and Armia get you?

Should be able to afford a top six forward with that if the situation is right.

  16. Kovacevic Harris, Barron are on the low end I think for this season, Savard likely traded at TDL
