This is my first year in a long time following hockey. When I heard the “Vegas Injured Reserves” moniker, I was naturally curious what it meant.
I was kind of shocked to learn about skirting the cap and how blatant it is. How has the league not done anything about it after this long?

I’m honestly more upset with the start times. 8:30 pm cst start means 9:00 pm cst puck drop for some reason. I guess we want to be extra sure they don’t have to deal with jet lag. Also like all of our home games are on weekdays, not even Fridays. Last year we had 0 home playoff games on Friday Saturday or Sunday. This year we might get one in game 7 of this series on a Sunday.

I remember when I was downvoted when I complained about Hertl playing and being told it’s completely legal and compliant. Ignoring the fact that Captain LTIR had his 10 million on LTIR was what allowed Hertl to get in the lineup.

I think the bigger issue is to say in that example that Vegas had the luxury of picking and choosing a lineup that better suited them for the playoffs. Like say they have 10 impact players injured before deadline who won’t come back until playoffs and they get 10 impact replacements. Now in the first round they elect to only play each game with a cap compliant team it still doesn’t negate the fact that they have 10 extra guys who can make the job easier depending on the opponent or matchups. It’s different then say a black ace whom while will practice and help in getting the team ready rarely actually play meaningful minutes. I don’t know that’s just my thoughts on it.
