Yeah, but they didn’t pull the same fucking act every year for 6 years.
They went ahead and won some hard fought games 2 years in a row. They got absolutely robbed in ’93 or who knows if they would have made it to the Cup.
I’m not mad at this group or even particularly sad. I just see this team is worse than last year’s. There is simply no objective reason to think they can win this series….much less the Cup.
I will be perfectly happy for them to prove me wrong and I’m still cheering for them but I just can’t conjure up a certain level of delusion to believe this is their year. (I was convinced they could pull it off last year, so call this burnout or whatever after so many years).

I was only 5 but I remember watching that playoff run with my dad. Doug Gilmour became my favourite player and Wendell Clark was my brothers favourite. Was a lifelong leafs fan until I had to switch teams.

I was at the third game at Maple Leaf Gardens when they turned things around. I wasn’t expecting them to win that game. Went home very happy that night.
