How would you grade your teams roster construction? A? B? F??
Yzerman was given a shit team to begin with( unlike Vegas who was handed a team by rule changes, or the Tampa bay lightning gm now who had his team set for him BY YZERMAN). If you don’t know what kind of prospects yzerman has lined up for this next season then you should probably have no no idea how hockey works or what it takes to rebuild a team. 3:29 He’s taken shit draft spots and has done the best he can. He hasn’t had a 1,2,or 3 draft picks. He’s not as lucky as Sakic to get a McKinnon or makar.

Holland wasn't responsible for Datsyuk and Zetterberg, that's all Håkan Andersson, who is a scouting genius. I can imagine a lot of the draft success the Wings have had as of late is down to Yzerman letting Andersson do his job, whereas Holland probably overruled him a lot

Said it before and ill always say it again, Stevie was handed a toothbrush to clean up Ken Hollands BS. It was by design to dismantle a franchise before he left. You guys actually think the illitches would fired him before his contract was up that would be breach of contract. We all had to bight our tongues and patiently wait. Just you wait, next season will be an absolute barn burner.

If you average out the pandemic seasons as points per game to be fair, the Wings have still increased their point total 4 years in a row.
The Ken Holland "Rebuild" left the cupboard virtually non-existent. I remember when he said "Rebuilds are ugly, they take around 10 years". We are on the right track as painful as it seems. SY has been solid, he doesn't wallow in mistakes, just moves on, each year is better and better, just hang in there…

The Yzerplan is already showing flashes of working. A few things need to be made way better, that’s obvious.
I know I sound like every other tinfoil hat wearing optimist, but I think Yzerman knows that he’s in the one town that is willing to tolerate him for an extended rough patch for a bigger payoff. I’m not going to give up until the team has a season or two where we are markedly worse than the year before.
Ken Holland is the reason they're in the mess they are plus had Larkin not got hurt they would have made it only missed it by point everyone needs to relax and actually let Yzerman do his job he built that Tampa team apart from Hedman and Stamkos so give him time to clean up the mess Ken made or better yet fire him see how well you do without him
I really thought this was our year and it almost was but the detroit decided to lose 13 of 16 in March.. wasn't good enough. If they had one just ONE more they would have made it. Yzerman said this year they were aiming to compete for the playoffs so by the Yzerman goal he nailed it. We're on track. Next year will be it, more cohesion, more experience and possibly finally a goalie tandem in Lyon and Husso.

Excuse me. Peter Bondra was 156th pick overall in 1990 Draft (8th round) to the Washington Capitals. He averaged just about 0.5 GPG and 0.825 PPG. Where does he rank on your list here?

Yzerman inherited a smouldering tire fire and it generally takes a long time to build up a competitive team from the minors up. Now, they haven't drafted great and your not signing many good free agents to a losing team so it's tough that way. Shanahan took over in Toronto, and they did a good job of drafting/signing and turning the team around fairly quickly after blowing it up, but just making the playoffs every year to get immediately bounced isn't ideal either. You need quality players and great depth to be really successful. The Wings were positioned to break that streak, but defensive play, depth and bad luck(Torts) did them in. Is it just me that thinks every time Larkin goes down, which is often, the wheels fall off? If Kane goes elsewhere, and the depth doesn't improve, probably be another year in playoff purgatory.
It's a tough business and Steve is definitely someone you want on your side or any endeavor. I will likely not watch a video from this guy ever again, because saying that he is a fraud is just a way of getting clicks.

Kenny Boy did no favors in the rebuild. Larkin was the only good player and their prospects were busts with his awful drafting.
Yzerman had no lottery luck and he basically built it up from nothing and now has the 2nd best prospects list in the league. Seider is becoming a solid defenseman and Raymond is becoming a star in the league.
39-48-74-80-90. It boggles my mind how bad they were vs. how much better they are now.
