Desperate to make a statement vs. Bruins, Maple Leafs stumble in Game 1

With a history of being dominated by the Bruins, the Maple Leafs were out to prove they were a different team this time around but they got blown out in Game 1 and lost to Boston for the eighth straight time. The TSN Hockey panel takes a closer look at what went wrong for Toronto, discuss if Sheldon Keefe should consider starting Joseph Woll in Game 2, and more.

  1. This team will not even have a chance until that Taveres contract is off the books. Marner should also be moved.

  2. When exactly will the leafs be playoff ready, 50 years from now? the leafs should be embarrassed from how they played in game 1 and my guess is, not much will change in the next 3. I predict an early exit for the leafs yet again and just maybe Sheldon Keefe will be fired afterwards. I can’t understand how a team can play so well during regular season and come playoffs, it’s like they forgot how to play the game, Boston was all over the leafs, out skating them, scoring and so on. I hope Boston beats them 4 straight.

  3. There the leafs!!! Hahaha why these idiots were saying its different before the game was a riot

  4. Mark my words: this will be a sweep and maybe finally the true problems will be solved. Shanahan has to go, as well as Keefe. And either Marner or Nylander has to be traded for a goaltender who can tend the goal and a defender who can defend. It's all Shanahans fault right from the beginning. To give these baby stars as much money as they did, was just ridiculous

  5. Cbc trolled leafs by playing Aerosmith "same old story, same old song and dance" song going to commercial 👌

  6. maybe, just maybe…..oh talking heads who've spent more time in suits than in skates, doesn't matter that i'm a B's fan…..i'm also a former HS goalie, and don't appreciate putting Toronto's goalie out to die all alone like that. Boston's defense did what it needed to do, focus on the puck not the players. i honestly don't know how you look at that crease pile up in the 2nd, and say something to the effect of "the goalie sucks….it's all his fault. needs to do better in a matchup against Swayman"

  7. 4:37 Ah, yes, the excuses are always on hand with Toronto media. If you want to compare this Boston Bruins squad, who were embarrassed last year in coughin up a 3-1 series lead to the wild card team? You shouldn't be in your position, bud.

Tampa Bay was tired, broken down, injury riddled, and just out of focus from three straight years to the cup finals. To compare this clearly hungry, laser focused and determined Bruins team to that? Like I said, you shouldn't be in your position. That's insultingly laughable.

Quite the opposite is going to happen this year. Boston smells blood. Leaf blood, and they are licking their lips in excitement for game 2. Boston is going to run this team of cream puffs over, and that Nylander contract that kicks in next year, is finally going to look like the albatross that it is.

  8. High GAA with High GPP vs a team with a lower GAA and still decently high GPP tells a lot. As a kid from Georgia, I probably don’t know as much as Canadian fans… however, in a league where you have sporadic elite goal tending… wouldn’t you want to solidify the defense and goal tending a little? You blow out of the water mid tier teams… but I think haven’t faired well against Boston or other decent defense/goalie tandems. Trade a 1-2 line goal scorer for young defense or draft picks for defense.

I have the Leafs out in 5 games to Boston. I believe the Avalanche win it all versus the Lightning in the finals.

  9. This so reminds me of the Bruins during the 70's. They'd draw the habs in the playoffs year after year and make a first round exit.

  10. We’re not winning a game!! Keefe i don’t know how that happened…….it’s all you and this garbage management

  11. Leafs ain't never going nowhere with Mitch Marner on the team .. he's a Cancer and the players won't say it until he's gone .. last year's example of him arguing with the ref while Ryan O'Reilly was taken on two Tampa Bay players 5 ft away in the playoffs is the perfect example of a piss poor teammate , especially in the playoffs .. he will never commit enough in the playoffs and last year's win against Tampa Bay coincidentally might be the only one to ever happen with Marner on the team .. coach has pretty much more than worn out his welcome as well .. listening to these guys criticize Samsonov because he had a bad game , I will take you back to the opening game of the Ottawa Toronto series where Ottawa won 5 – 0 and everybody said Curtis Joseph should never play again .. well let me tell you how that series ended or do I have to .. goalies sometimes play their best after a bad game , so I wouldn't exactly pull the plug yet .. but these guys are the experts so ..

  12. The series was over before it began. Get your clubs shined ip boys! The links are ready. The Loafs are not built for the playoff run. Bruins in 4! GO BRUINS!!

  13. As a non leaf fan, they should’ve moved marner for an ekholm type lock down dman or move heaven and earth to grab a stud goalie. Same team same excuses every year

  14. It's actually been decades of makemelaugh playoff failure but sure, it's just Boston that dominates you. Don't you guys have 5 ten million dollar players? What was their plus/minus? 😂😂

  15. Leafs people bringing up TB loss last year fail to realize their history against them isn't like the Bruins
