What a time to be alive in Vancouver now that the Canucks are in the playoffs for the first time at home in front of fans since 2015 and i really can't believe it. I am excited that the Canucks get the Predators in the first round. The fact that 2 of either Dallas, Vegas, Winnipeg, Colorado will be out in the first round is awesome. Lets go! Canucks in 6.
It’ll be an upset
I would never touch the Garland-Blueger-Joshua line UNLESS the main point is to boost LIndholm. If there were a good metric for eg offensive puck battles won people might realize that Blueger was doing very key work.
One of the biggest things Garland and Joshua do is reverse bad momentum. So often, when the other team's getting momentum and applying pressure, Tocchett would put out that duo and whoever their 3rd member is and they'd find a way to gain the puck and move it down the ice under control and create a chance on the rush, or dump in and forecheck effectively and apply pressure that would pave the way for the Miller or Petterson line to come out and continue the pressure and get some goals.
Early in the season, how often did we see Petterson, Boesser, Hughes or Miller score a goal where Garland, Bleuger and Joshua started in their own zone and got the puck into the Offensive zone to apply pressure, then our first or second line would come out and continue the pressure, resulting in a goal? When Joshua went down, we lost that duo and that really put the Canucks in an unexpectedly bad tailspin, as the magnitude of that ability to turn the game around when getting bottled up in our own zone was lost.
