As a Detroit fan, I understand and appreciate that Philly wanted to win the game regardless. But once it was known that the Detroit game went to overtime, why would it still matter to Philly to win specifically in regulation? It made no difference anymore from a Philadelphia playoff perspective. By keeping their goalie in and going to overtime if necessary, the Flyers would have had a better chance of winning the game in some fashion.
Yes, I have some self-interest in saying so, but I do believe that this would have been my mindset too if the roles had been reversed.
Typical anti-Flyers fans aka everyone will only take this one play as what the entire season was for an overlooked rebuilding team that was basically expected to go 0-82
Telling you right now if Torts knew they were out and the Wings would be out if the Caps won the goalie wouldn't have been pulled 😂 he would've played his checking lines to hit and block shots to keep the Caps from winning in regulation or at all

It’s so simple to understand that timing on this is second by second. You get a guy on the phone at the other game so you have up to date real time info. This is the only right play. Anything else is subpar.
Torts is one of the best coaches ever. It's easy to say any of us can do better, but realistically can YOU do better?
