  1. As a Detroit fan, I understand and appreciate that Philly wanted to win the game regardless. But once it was known that the Detroit game went to overtime, why would it still matter to Philly to win specifically in regulation? It made no difference anymore from a Philadelphia playoff perspective. By keeping their goalie in and going to overtime if necessary, the Flyers would have had a better chance of winning the game in some fashion.

Yes, I have some self-interest in saying so, but I do believe that this would have been my mindset too if the roles had been reversed.

  2. Typical anti-Flyers fans aka everyone will only take this one play as what the entire season was for an overlooked rebuilding team that was basically expected to go 0-82

  3. Telling you right now if Torts knew they were out and the Wings would be out if the Caps won the goalie wouldn't have been pulled πŸ˜‚ he would've played his checking lines to hit and block shots to keep the Caps from winning in regulation or at all

  4. coach John T. You did an awesome job with the Flyers…you took a losing team and made them winners. I look forward to the growth in the coming years. Thank you.

  5. Even though he F'd the Red Wings, I have to admit that it was the right decision for the Flyers.

  6. When a team loses 14/21 at the end of the season the coach is an issue. Fire Torts like 5 other teams have done before.

  7. (As a wings fan) why the hell would he care about what’s going on for the wings. He was trying to win his own spot. Sucks it didn’t work out though

  8. As mad as I was that the Red Wings got knocked out by an empty net goal, I can’t blame Torts. He was trying to get his team into the playoffs.

  9. It’s so simple to understand that timing on this is second by second. You get a guy on the phone at the other game so you have up to date real time info. This is the only right play. Anything else is subpar.
