[Stein] On Travis Green, Fitzgerald says: “I liked what I saw of Travis, he checks a lot of boxes. I think he’s a no-nonsense head coach. He’s very open and players know where he stands w/ his thoughts. Thats important. But it’s my responsibility every stone is turned over.”

And yet…despite this Fitzy…he is not good coach

  2. opposite_of_hotcakes

I’m sure he’s just saying that because he has to and will do his due diligence…..right?

    Please no

We have suffered enough with Haynes lmao

Everything said about green right now is lip service until anything official is announced. They’re most definitely going to be searching for every available option for a coach.

Everyone relax- he’s not gonna shit on the guy whom filled a gap after ruff was let go.

And the old expression everything before the but doesn’t matter.

Please pick someone competent that has a defensive structure in place lol

I liked what I saw of Travis as well, hopefully he gets hired full time.

I hope they look at Mitch Love – was AHL coach of the year twice in a row, and now is a Caps assistant in charge of the D. Obviously something there is working after they way outperformed expectations.

A lot of boxes is not all the boxes.

During the STH interview with Fitz, it looked like he really likes Travis, and may give him a shot. I hope not, but yeah I very well can happen.

hopefully just giving green a pat on the back for “a good job” and nothing more .

I’d like to see Kevin Dineen get the job

It wouldn’t do any good for him to badmouth him so I take this with a grain of salt.

  14. Mitch Love or David Carle.

    If it’s Green we riot.

Canucks fan here. He wasn’t a great coach, though he didn’t have the best pieces to work with. You guys deserve better.

  16. Grimmer026

Don’t forget Green will also be looking for a job too. Fitz is right to pump him up

    I have boxes to check:

0 : good with young players, versatile coaching that works with what he has rather than trying to force his ideal team into what he’s got

0 : knows when to reward, and especially, when to hold people accountable (which a lot of supposedly good coaches don’t do these days and can’t do anything beyond the regular season as the result of it)

0 : won a championship coaching elsewhere (ie, graduated properly to NHL, either as a player that’s won a Cup, or a coach that’s won Memorial Cup, NCAA titles, European Titles, or Calder Cup)

0 : if nhl experienced, made it by the first round of the playoffs on higher than a 50/50 basis

Ownership should definitely let Fitz do his thing and if him doing his thing is hiring Green then they should immediately let Fitz go do his thing elsewhere – as well as Green

Fire Lindy. Interim Green. Hire Green. Fire Green and Fitz after 2 years of mediocrity

My nightmare scenario still on track to become reality.

  20. If Green is the head coach next year they’ll be a lottery team again.

  21. At least Travis has two syllables. Easy to chant Fire Travis

Summoning circle for Mike Sullivan getting the axe in Pittsburgh starts now.
