  1. Isles had their ups and downs but in the end roy got isles into playoffs. Isles got hot at the end when you want to be playing your best is all that counts now. The only move louzer could make with a handcuffed roster was to hire roy. A new voice was needed. Had isles play more aggressive. Not much he can do with line combos. Sp. teams better improve if isles have any chance vs. canes and top pp and 2 pk. Now roy will be tested in playoff against proven coach brind'amour. Different game now going game to game adjustments. And roy fanned out as av coach after being coty in first round. We'll see if that is different this playoff. btw pen game means nothing for pens now with caps winning vs. flyers that also knocked wings out. caps get rags in first round. And watch for audrey gauzer. 28 year old swiss league vet d man good in transition game. Louzer and roy have scouted him. Could be signed this off-season to one year $1.5 mil. deal as ufa. Could be 25 replacement. Ripe at 28 for run it back roster next season.

  2. yes i think Roy has been a dfference maker for the Islanders since being named HC. Scott and Jon, i know you're reading this, lol, reward Roy with the GM job also. LGI!!!!!!

  3. missed the live chat…bummer. Roy is a winner, plain and simple. Isles needed to learn how to win and Roy is highly qualified for the job. And I like his fiery approach. He keeps the players on their toes. Exactly what we needed.

  4. roy has been a winner at every level. What he did with the ramparts is simply outstanding, even with the avalanche he did a fantastic job the record speaks for itself. He has really good insight when you watch him in interviews he sees the game . A goaltender sees the game from a better vantage point which i think to a degree has helped roy. The man is a very intelligent hockey mind you can determine that when watching his interviews.

  5. Well the islanders made it! As we sit back enjoy the 82nd game leading into the playoffs I hope everyone has a great time watching the games with family and friends! Let’s go Islanders!!!

  6. I wonder with all those blown lead games an OT losses would’ve looked like with Roy from the beginning

  7. I think he also made it fun and interesting to play when he kept switching the lines. Yea it also helps him learn the players but I think by the end of lamberts tenure they were burnt out. Roy got the heart beating again. Also I couldn’t agree with you more with the keyword accountability. Now getting the PP and PK going would be awesome. That’s why I don’t see Houda and Maclean back as assistants next.

  8. I thought Roy would suck. He doesn't. I have to give Yoda some props for grabbing him.
Can he take these Isles on a deep run? He just might. Rangers vs Caps will be awesome. The Rangers and fans haven't forgotten Wilson banging Panarins bare head on the ice. Would Wilson accept a challenge from Rempe? Can Rempe take him? Perhaps we'll find out. I just like the idea of those 2 teams bruising each other up.
These playoffs could be very competitive throughout the league from 1st round to finals.

  9. one of my heroes growing up and couldn't be happier when he was hired. thus far, has not disappointed and cant wait to see him as gm someday. Lou has made some mistakes that will limit what he can do for the next couple of years but the future under st Patrick is optimistic. lane Lambert was not an nil coach and im happy Lou admitted and addressed that after firing trotz …took a lot for Lou to admit that …not many gm get three coaches in two years …thats a lot of leeway. little confusing your take on Pittsburgh..they no longer can get in Gil, you're making it seem like they still can with help?

  10. Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? The Islanders signed a true Long Islander, but he'll be in Bridgeport for now.
Patrick Roy has been a winner ever since his long ago days as goalie first with Montreal, and then with Colorado. He wasn't above benching guys, and he experimenting with the lines, I said it before, Al Arbour would be proud. If they play well, they can beat anybody, however, if they play poorly, they can be beaten by anybody. The Islanders play Pittsburgh tonight. Win or lose, they still play Carolina. They need to work on their specialty teams. Sidney Crosby is still tough after all these years. The Islanders need to STAY FOCUSED MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. HAPPY 🎂, GARY GALEE. Hear from you tomorrow, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS.

  11. The Pens are eliminated. This game means nothing. Sit 13, 14, 21, 29. Lets some of the kids in BRI come up and get a taste.

  12. I got the feeling last year they backed into the playoffs, this year they are like 7 -0-1? Also goal tending so much better as the year got better. They are deeper and have their depth players playing well. Be interesting to see what happens when the team has to raise their level. I’m looking for more out of the fourth line somehow. Wonder about Carolina’s fourth line.

  13. Gm Gil. Let's not get too lost in the playoff celebration. This team finishes the 2024 season 5 games below 500 and the worst record of the teams making the playoffs this year. The end of the season was impressive but I am not convinced Roy was the difference maker. The roster next year may very well determine whether Roy lasts because they could very well take a step backward without a major roster change given the team's age.

  14. Living here in Montreal I always loved Patrick Roy as a player for the Habs and for his many duties for the Quebec Remparts including Coaching, Vice President of Hockey Operations, GM, and owner of the club. The club was well run and very successful during his tenure. We are very lucky to have his services. Thanks Gil for the great Podcast!

  15. Well obviously this was recorded before Washington won. Pittsburgh is playing for nothing now

  16. WTF they couldn't call up Iskhakov, Dufour, or Maggio for tonight's meaningless game. Unbelievable

  17. I just quickly watched a Hurricane podcast, and the commentator mentioned the Islanders are predictable and that’s true. I can only hope Roy mixes it up a bit, especially on the PP,it’s too slow.
