  1. 6:18 – not looking to stir the pot, but I have sight-fished Roach on a clear canal over Winter and I don't think the line size matters. It's the bait size. I have watched 100s of big Roach follow a hook bait and turn off. Until I made the bait to a quarter the size of a bit of corn they didn't want to know! Anything bigger they would refuse. Tiny morsel and they woofed it! Can you do a challenge in winter, full sized bait vs quarter a bait. Bet the smaller bait wins. Not the smaller line. If I can leave a link to one of my videos showing that, please reply and give permission. I broke my back in March and couldn't fish how I normally do so I spent a LOT of time Roaaaaaaacccchhh fishing. The Grand Western is crystal clear and watched the Roach behaviour!

  2. great video as always. Ive just learning using the pole and one thing ive notice that a 4×14 only takes 6 number 8 before it sinks the float, how do you get away with using more shots and not sinking the floats. ive notice this on most of your shots and different floats.

  3. From a 71 year old who has fished the Hampshire Avon and Doset Stour.
I think you are better on your own.
    You know your job.
You don't need to be No2.
    Brilliant video Andy

  4. I fished an open today and, to my utter amazement, I ended up third – it was a small match, so top two only get a payday 😢 – catching a good few skimmers,, but also a ten pound mirror and a seven(!) pound F1. All on 4mm expander, using .13, 4in hooklength with a size 16 Kamasan F1 B911, a 4x 12 Preston fine and 6-8 MAP TKS Solid Core hybrid elastic. I ended up with 83lb and had an amazing day.

Sorry for the waffle, but I'm chuffed to little mint balls!
