[Koshan] Nylander, eight games without a goal: “I mean, f—, I don’t know how many games it has been since I scored. It doesn’t matter for me. What’s coming up is the biggest part, but as a player you’re always striving to be better. You’re not just happy with what you’ve done.”

Willy is awesome. This is the right attitude. Focus on the big picture, don’t get too down on yourself when things aren’t going well and keep moving forward.

Nylander seems like nothing ever really bothers him. He just works on what he can control and keeps getting better every year.

Thats okay. Nylanders season is already a success. Give Matthews all the goals plz

  3. TO_Sports

There was one play yesterday where he whiffed on a shot (not the one where they showed him on the bench shaking his head, it was after that) and you could see his body language saying something along the lines of “what the hell is happening”

he should ask matthews if he can borrow one of his sticks. Maybe theyre magical

Good attitude. Nylander always brings it in the playoffs. Also he isn’t exactly playing with world-beaters at even strength atm.

He’s just saving it for his inevitable Conn Smythe run

Doesn’t help that his quality of linemates has gone way down. He will start scoring again soon I have no doubt, regardless of who he’s playing with.

    Love it.

We always complain that hockey players are too polished and formulaic in their non-answers.

    Atta boy, Willy.

  9. I’m not worried about him. He always brings it in the playoffs!

I friggen love him!! It hurt (like really hurt) to see Kessel & Kadri go, Nylander leaving would have shattered me though……just a gem of a player!!

If he keeps playing the way he did last night he’ll be fine

He’s in bad shape. Very tight usually lasts 3-4 weeks so expect zero from him in the first round. Most importantly, get him off the power play.

Any scoring woes in the last month of the regular season will quickly be forgotten when you score an important playoff goal.

Apparently nylander is a leaf (dont quote me)

Nylander always shows up in the playoffs, he’s got the Dawg in him

His icetime has shot up since mid-March, and by quite a bit too.

Willy was definitely fighting it. So many chances he got in the game last night he just fumbled. Totally unlike him all season. He’ll get it back by the time the playoffs start though, he usually does. I’m not worried.

  18. At the time he signed his contract he was on pace for 47 goals and 117 points. At that time I thought if he didn’t hit 40 and 100 points that would be a precipitous falloff. Watching him in action it’s incredible that he’s not getting points. He’s been instrumental on some third-assist goals and has generated a ton of chances. Things just haven’t fully clicked during this recent stretch.

I really, really hope he hits the century mark. Would be such a shame to come this close and fall short.

I really don’t like Nylander’s style – I thought re-signing him to that contract is Treliving’s worse move so far. Teams are starting to pressure him more when he circles the offensive zone, so he’s giving up more break aways He has a tendency to get frustrated and blast low quality shots when things aren’t going well.

That said, the PP struggles are the main reason he’s behind in points. He’s never been amazing at 5v5 scoring. If we can get that turned around, he’ll at least fill the score sheet.

I have so much respect for Willy. Guy has been shit on his whole career and he still has a smile on his face and holds himself accountable.

Nylander and disappearing for extended periods. Name a more iconic duo.
