Jesper Wallstedt’s Second NHL Start was a Massive Success! #minnesotawild #mnwild #nhl

On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins to recap Jesper Wallstedt’s return to the NHL. We look at the adjustments he made himself from his first start to now, and how the Wild helped him out particularly on defense. We move to the insane run that Kirill Kaprizov is on, and why any questions about him re-signing with the Wild should be tied directly to Bill Guerin’s future as Wild GM. If Kaprizov leaves, considering everything he has done so far in a Wild uniform, that would likely lead to massive and wholesale changes in the front office. We finish by looking at a few things the Wild should look to do in the final 5 games of the season, including giving a few players a chance to try to win a spot in the top six.

  1. As Travis noted,, kaprizov has the power,,he really needs to tell Billy what needs to be done,,, also kaprizov is the
Only Super Star the Wild have ever had, Gabby's best year he was 12th in the league

  2. Good call Alex – a quiet deadline usually leads to fireworks once the off-season starts. It's going to be fun to watch

  3. Faber's pass to Kirill was nice, but keep in mind he had an absolutely horrendous pass to Kirill 20 seconds earlier that handcuffed him and lead to an instant turnover.
Jesper played well (against a bottom feeder).
Kirill should be in MVP discussion.
Trade Gus and resign Fluery 1 year $1.5M………

  4. Know this…Guerin is going to blame injuries, slow start, coaching change, and the buyouts for his 2023 excuses. He is also going to say it is basically the same roster as last year and they made playoffs……So he doesnt have to make significant changes…Also know, the Wild are now top-heavy with Centers (including prospects) so a few are going to be traded.
Dont expect to see Hunt Lambos O'Rourke next season in St.Paul either.

  5. Shut down 97, beat the Wild – simple. If that includes running at him, so be it, ask Winnipeg – Dallas. That is why this roster needs another scorer as well as someone to deal with this shit on a regular basis. We seem to always be hurt, nicked up, compared to Dallas, Edmonton, Kings etc. I don’t have an explanation but going down the stretch without EK, Brodin, Foligno, as examples is crazy. We just played Colorado with 3-4 players sitting. Until they prove they can beat the Avalanche, Stars, Jets, even the Blues and Nashville regularly when we needed those games, it’s futile. I remember Colorado playing McDermid in G82 running at players a few years ago. I don’t know why we didn’t play a mean physical team/ game against the Jets who wanted to skate into town, grab two points and have no nicks. Mission accomplished as we had a tender lineup…As for 97 and his points, play, it’s beyond a joy to watch. His goals on Saturday were goals only superstars score. Even the jets were looking at the scoreboard on the PP snipe, a sign of his prowess.

  6. Surprised you guys are high on Reinhart. Classic contract year shenanigans.

The question I have about Rossi: is he indispensable? If not…get what you can get.

  7. My thoughts on today's show
Walsted was a breath of Fresh Air
There's a noticeable difference in Walsted play compared to Gus or Fleur
He's a very quiet goalie, his reflexes are
Clearly much better, and the future
For the Wild is in very good shape
I'm on the Bus with Gus all goalies go thru a period where it's not working, so please just think about that,
Gus has way more upside, you have to give him a chance to work out the kinks
