In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about Ryan Leonard’s 4-point game the help lift the Boston College Eagles over the Michigan Tech Huskies. Through 58 games has 29 goals and 29 assists for 58 points. Today’s game marked Leonard’s seventh multi-point game of the season and sixth multi-assist game of the year. Later Dan talks about the goalie situations for the Capitals. Charlie Lindgren has played so well that he is the number one goalie for the Capitals. The problem is that their “backup” is Darcy Kuemper and has played 500 hockey this season. Would the Capitals be better off with Hunter Shepard or Clay Stevenson on the team? Then Dan talks about John Carlson’s 1000th game Saturday against the Bruins.

You think Ryan Leonard will play for the caps this season if we are still in the playoff picture like the leafs from last season?
Ryan Leonard was an excellent pick but I don't want him rushed too quickly. He just turned 19 in January so he still needs to mature. If he can't improve or learn something playing collegiate hockey or in the minors, that's another thing.
Your point about confidence in Kuemper is the key. If Carbery has lost confidence in him, they probably should bring Sheppard or Stevenson up. One thing I'm curious is the system the Bears play, if it's a more defensive system or more wide open. I'm not saying their goaltenders are not good, but the system does make a difference. Btw, I do like to hear news about the baby Caps.
ryan is a combo of oshie and wilson imo, hopefully with less injury and more disipline .
I'm sure Ryan will be good when making it to the NHL. Let's not rush him allowing him to no only develop his skills but mental fitness. We must remember how young these guys are. He might not be mentally ready to handle the expectations with a high paid contract. Let the process play out.
