There were so many little plays that the leafs overpowered Edmonton physically that weren’t necessarily big hits and won’t show up on a highlight reel like this but we’re a huge reason for the win.
That first goal, Tavares put his body on the line to cram in along the boards, get body position and make a no look pass out front to McMann.
The Holmberg from Domi and Matthews goal followed a similar enough script with Matthews leveraging his size to retrieve a puck in the corner and then create a bit of separation to hit Domi with a nice pass.
The boys knew this was a big matchup that a lot of eyes would be on and they didn’t fail to bring the playoff style intensity. Love it.
