Ranking My Top 10 NHL Trades That SHOULD HAVE Happened

Ranking My Top 10 NHL Trades That SHOULD HAVE Happened

The NHL trade deadline is over and some teams really separated themselves from some of the other top end talents in their division I think it’s safe to say that one team in particular looks like they’re going to be the favorite again this year I’m looking at you Vegas we

All know what you did even with all of the deals that happened last week though there are some players that oddly enough stayed with their respective franchises so today I’m going to look at 10 players that I believe should have been moved at this year’s deadline these are a few

Players who were rumored to be on the trade block or who wanted out of their current situation that could have been the final piece to a Stanley Cup contending team before I get into today’s video I make daily NHL and hockey related content so if you haven’t

Subscribe to the Channel Make sure you do that now and let’s get right into it now look by no means am I a qualified NHL GM if some of these trades feel lopsided or maybe one team gets a bit more in return then so be it you guys

Can always comment and make some suggestions to improve on the deals that I have listed below now this first one is not a massive investment but it would have been nice to see this team add some security in net before the postseason in this first trade the Edmonton Oilers

Trade a 202 243rd and a 2025 4th to Minnesota in exchange for Mark Andre flurry reports have come out saying that flurry wanted to stay in Minnesota which is why the trade never happened this year but with the wild paying Philip guson his new contract extension despite

His down year and having young goalie Prospect Jesper walstead in their farm system I think moving on from flurry who is now 39 years old felt like the right decision for a team who may miss the playoffs this season flurry on the Oilers gives the veteran goalie a ticket

To the playoffs yet again and provides Edmonton with a safety net if things go south with Stuart Skinner Skinner would remain the starter for the playoffs but if he starts to slide a little bit then you have a reliable number two that you can trust to put in net it’s not the

Worst thing that flurry stayed in Minnesota but I would have loved seeing him in the playoffs again this season and what better place than the Edmonton Oilers the fact that the Ottawa Senators kept Jacob chitan post deadline maybe the most confusing of all the players on this list ottawa’s biggest defensive

Problem is that they have three players who play the exact same way in Sanderson Shabbat and chitron they’re all offensive defensemen all three of these guys are capable of getting Topline minutes but one of them has to play on the second line and unfortunately for chitron he’s the odd man out I think

With this downar Ottawa is having they should have traded their assets to reset for next season and one team that could use a defenseman like chitron is Philadelphia in this scenario Philadelphia trades a first round pick eigor zamila and Scott Lofton to Ottawa in exchange for Jacob chitron by making

This trade Philadelphia’s top four defenseman would be Travis sanheim Rasmus ristan Jacob chitron and Jamie Dale not bad if you’re looking at a Flyers team that was supposed to be one of the worst this year but it’s currently in a playoff spot looking to add some more Dynamic offensive

Defenseman to their roster this is more of a future play for Philly in all honesty chitron has another year on his contract so with the injury to dry still you can get a guy that would help you for this playoffs and next season as well I think he’d be a great ad for

Philadelphia and really help them in their postseason run this year next up is one of the many goalies on my list Elvis Mur Lickin in this scenario I’m sending him to the Detroit Red Wings this is one of the trades on this list that I really was unsure about who to

Send back and what Elvis was worth after requesting that trade from the Blue Jackets it felt like they had no leverage here so any team could probably get him for pretty cheap if they wanted to for starters Detroit has three goalies right now in huso Rhymer and

Lion with huso being a bit of a disappointment this year and lying being the savior of this team season I think Detroit could use a guy with a lot of upside a guy who’s looking to prove himself to a new franchise and a guy who’s also the right age and in his

Prime which mer lickens falls into all of those categories I think if you made this deal you would have to send huso back to Columbus which I’m not sure if Detroit fans want to keep him at this point or not but if Detroit potentially made a move like this it would be a

Perfect fit for both the organization and the player look like I mentioned at the start of the video Vegas got more than enough at this year’s deadline way more than anybody could have predicted but one guy that I would have loved to see back in a Vegas sweater is Riley

Smith Smith is having a down season so you wouldn’t get what you paid for him in a third round pick but I think a simple Smith for a fourth round pick would have been a fine deal for both teams Smith has 29 Points this season and I think Vegas could have used the

Depth for the playoffs this season and in Vegas’s system Riley Smith has thrived Pittsburgh you acquire more draft capital and you build for the future and Vegas you get more depth to your roster this is more of a need for Vegas than Pittsburgh they want to make

A deep cup run and adding consistent depth scoring is always valuable for any playoff team not a massive trade but one I really would have liked to see happen especially for Riley Smith the next goalie on this list wasn’t really talked about that much this year at the

Deadline and I really don’t understand why John Gibson is currently playing for the Anaheim Ducks and I feel like a guy who’s been a top 10 goalie during some points of his career deserves a bit more attention from contending teams for Gibson I would have loved to see him in

An la king sweater that team is a goalie away from being a legitimate contending team I think what would make this trade happen is a 2024 first Ric and England and then if you have to throw in another older guy to make the cap space work

Then so be it this gives the Ducks some more assets to build with their young court and the Kings finally get a legitimate starting goalie Gibson has four years left making 6.5 million a season which would provide LA with some consistency in net for the next few seasons something they haven’t had for

Years now maybe this one’s a bit overeager and maybe the contract is too big for any team that’s looking to make a trade at the deadline but I think Gibson would slot in very nicely with this La team he wouldn’t have to move too far and I just consider this to be a

Perfect fit for both the player and the team there were some rumors about this goalie heading to La before eventually fizzling out but I think eventually the Boston Bruins will move on from Lena alark and I think the team that should be trading for him is the New Jersey

Devils geographically it’s close enough to Boston where I believe lenus allar would be comfortable accepting a trade and the reason why he denied the last deal was because he didn’t want to move across the country in this trade scenario the New Jersey Devils send Boston a first round pick in 2025 and in

Return they get lenus alar alar has one more year left on his contract and with Boston lacking first round picks I think this would have been a nice asset for them to have as they look towards the next era of Boston Bruins hockey as a

Bruins fan I would love to see all Mark stay in Boston but with San needing a new deal and the Bruins needing to address other areas of their roster I think the reality is that they need to move on from one of their current pieces in order to get better for New Jersey

This is an easy decision you get a starting goalie and not miss the playoffs because you have the worst goal tending in the NHL and something needs to be fixed I think this would be a win-win for both teams and Boston will actually manage to flip this first round

Pick for another trade on my list now what a strange decision for the Flames to hang on to Jacob markstrom after almost trading him in the middle of the season it’s no secret that markam wasn’t happy with the decision by Calgary and now they go and sell almost all of their

Other Assets in Lindholm Hanahan and tanif just to keep him in the end now obviously markim still has time left on his contract so it’s not like they completely missed out on trading him but with so many teams needing a starting goalie it’s just really confusing to me

Why this guy wasn’t moved I think in an Ideal World the Calgary Flames send him to Carolina who desperately needs a starting goalie I think it would require a first round pick in 20124 and then maybe a prospect or a player in return this would send back some assets to

Calgary since they are clearly heading towards a rebuild and for Carolina you get that one piece to your roster that everyone’s complaining about to really make you a Powerhouse in the East the whole marks of not being mov thing yeah I just don’t really get it and I think

This would have been the perfect trade scenario for both parties the New York Rangers made some solid pickups at this year’s deadline adding both wenberg and rosic to their roster to me the Rangers needed to add some depth which they did with both of these pickups but what they

Also needed to do was add a middle six guy who could score Unfortunately they just didn’t do that even with the perfect player out there that could have been an instant match for this team I think the perfect trade that should have happened was Frank vrono of the Anaheim

Ducks reuniting with the blue shirts an organization that he said he loved playing for and for one of these two trades I think they could have made it work one cocko and a second SL thir for vrono or just straight up vrono for a first round pick you may be paying a lot

For a guy like this but vetrano is having a career year he’s an NHL Allstar has 29 tucks and 50 points in 64 games played and the chemistry is already there since he’s played with these guys before I really wonder if New York tried kicking tires on this one but their

Owner kind of vetoed it because he didn’t want to trade their first round pick but either way I think the Rangers had the opportunity to really load up again this year and make a deep playoff run but opted out it’ll be interesting to see how far they go in this year’s

Playoffs because if they get bounced in the first round again you really have to start thinking what is this team going to do in the future are they really blowing this opportunity while they still have all of these great players it’s just some fruit for thought this

Next one is another stretch but be patient with me on this the Bruins traded Lena allar earlier to the Devils for a first round pick but instead of drafting with this pick Boston instead flips it in a trade to the Anaheim Ducks along with Prospect Fabian lysell to

Acquire Trevor zis now I know a lot of you are probably like why would they do this but zis is having having a down year the ducks have way too many forwards in their farm system and there have been rumors that they were shopping zis right now Z is on a team-friendly

Deal that would work well in Boston and he would be playing alongside players like posa and Mary so you know Boston would get a lot of value from him Boston basically trades lenus alar and Fabian lysel to acquire Trevor zis a Topline Center that they desperately need and

The Ducks get another first round pick along with a promising Prospect so they can continue building with this core I know it’s a stretch because I don’t think Anaheim wants to give up on this guy just yet but it is a win-win for both teams zis heads to Boston where

They always get the most out of their players and he can develop a strong defensive game with them and potentially become a strong Topline Center and for the Ducks they get a prospect infian lysel who could add to their young core and another first- round pick to build

For the future I don’t think this trade will ever happen but I think both GMS should start looking into it the last trade on my list is also another goalie no one expected Nashville to be this good in a season that looked like a retooling year but here they are again

Another year another playoff spot for the PRS the Predators have a strong starter right now but they also have a goalie in their Prospect system who is lighting it up in the miners with SOS having one more year on his deal it made him an attractive trade Target for any

Team that needed to start and goalie this trade deadline the team that I would have absolutely love to see Saros play for is the Toronto Maple Leaves now I’m not going to even bother with mock trades because realistically Toronto has a bunch of options whether it’s trading

Guys like Nick Robertson Matthew NIS or Timothy lilligren trading assets picks prospects they have them all and I’m I’m really just surprised that they didn’t do something drastic considering the current state of their goal tending Joseph wall is promising but he has no playoff experience and with a team like

This you need a guy that you can trust completely when entering the postseason realistically there were a lot of teams that should have been in on Soros and of course the Predators decided to hold on to him but if Toronto was interested I think they easily could have acquired a

Guy like this who’s on a pretty team-friendly contract and that would have given them a lot of security in net but these are the 10 trades that I would have liked to see made at this year’s NHL trade deadline but unfortunately they weren’t meant to be let me know

Which of these trades you would have liked to see along with some of your own in the comments below like this video subscribe to the channel and I will see you guys in the next one

The NHL Trade Deadline is officially over but there were some players that were rumored in these trades but nothing ever came from it. 1. What are some NHL Trades that you wanted to see happen at this years NHL Trade Deadline but never ended up happening?

  2. Carolina will NOT be trading for a goalie after this season. Especially as Markstrom, who will cost that much. We have a lot of money we need to pay guys this off season and Kochetkov is a very good goalie who has already shown elite flashes at 23/24

  3. I like the idea of getting chychrun but the moment they ask for a first Briere was hanging up. It had to be a second and a third and a roster player or we wouldn’t have done it.

  4. As a Flames fan, I also don’t get why they didn’t trade Markstrom (especially if the rumoured return package from NJ is anywhere close to true)

  5. Ullmark should net more than a 1st. If they are sending him to NJ, I would ask for Mercer/Holtz and that 1st. Is that expensive for the Devils…absolutely! But thats the cost of doing business with someone inside the conference

  6. As a CAR fan, no thanks on Markstrom.

Koochie has been playing lights out, Freddie is back and has looked good, and Spencer Martin re-signed and has been good in his looks and is boasting a 5-0-1 record.

  7. Rangers didn't want to trade kakko for vatrano. Frank is good but he only has 1 more 5v5 goal than kakko and he won't be playing on PP1 for the Rangers so I just don't think they felt it was worth it since Kakko is the better defender and is younger and cost controlled. I think the optics of trading a 4th for a guy and then a year and a half later trading a 1st for the same guy is pretty brutal too.

  8. #firefitz unless toffoli knows he’s not gonna continue to play in Winnipeg and he becomes a free Agent and he comes back to the devils, if so, fitz is smart, but we did get a good goalie which is allen, and Kakhonen who’s ok
