Jeff Paterson joins the show fresh off the Canucks blowing a 3-0 lead to the Colorado Avalanche and falling 4-3 in overtime. We get into all the storylines, including the officiating, Miller & Mikheyev, Pettersson not showing up, the Canucks getting throttled in the 3rd, Zadorov & Juulsen’s night, and the special teams not pulling their weight.

  1. It's the way they play that's the concern. Build a 3 goal lead and then turtle. Tocchet is the one teaching this crap. The first 30 minutes they were on loose pucks and forechecking. The last 30 minutes it was defend only which causes bad penalties and more defending. It was like watching a šŸ¦ turn into a šŸ¢.

  2. They changed there style in the third. So here is the speach from the coach. Before the game. Ok guys let use our speed, forcheck, and everything on the net! Now lets go get them!! Heres the speach after the second. Ok guys were up two goals so stop playing the way that got us the lead and lets defend in our end. Now go out there and defend!!

  3. I don't think it's as much whether they're able to handle being "leaned on". J.T. Miller put it best — "got a lead and then sat back."

  4. I have never seen an "elite" player fall down as much as Pettersson. World class hands with beer league skating ability. Trade him for Sid

  5. I called the puck over the glass penalty this can't be just one of those things it's carelessness and if you're at all close don't shoot the puck upwards that late in the game though to be fair you could make a case for not doing it at any point

  6. Canucks need not hang their heads, Colorado is just a better, more complete battle tested team that went 3-0 against Vanvouver this year.

  7. Let's face it there's about 6 guys that are in offensive slumps of various sorts but the one that sticks out really matters because 11.6 million could buy you a lot of room to upgrade the team. If by the end of the playoffs we don't love what we see there IS still time until that no trade contract comes into effect. Explore every option

  8. The Avalanche beat the Canucks last night. Vancouver will learn from these losses. Its better to lose these kind of games than to win them to avoid a false sense of accomplishment. They will be fine.

  9. 1st second i saw canucks players making dumb passing plays up the middle in the canucks zone. I knew this game was over and avalanche was going to win.

  10. The coach lost the 3rd period. Why canā€™t they play the third like the first two. They started the 3rd passive. That gives the opposition confidence

  11. ā€˜Canuck luck.ā€™

Jesus, talk about superstition. Trust Sekeres to go there. There are real things to talk about. And I donā€™t know if you got back to any of them after that, cuz I was outta here.

  12. Avs took the first 2 periods off last night because they knew that 1 of 3 was enough to beat the Casucks!

  13. Petey is a fantastic talent, but extremely soft. He canā€™t stay on his feet, if he isnā€™t scoring he is basically useless, still half decent on the back end but he is paid to score.

I would have traded him at the deadline. He will be an anchor contract in a few years, still valuable but not 11 million worth.
We can come back to this comment in a few years to see if I am right.

  14. Listen we owned them up until the snag that late second period goal. We need Joshua bar none and Demmer, but Iā€™m not too worried. 5on3 to the Avs? Come on

  15. Pettersson is never going to dominate a hockey game by himself. That is not the type of player he is. He is a skilled puckhandler and playmaker with a good shot. Look at his linemates… Name another player even close to him in scoring who is playing with Pius Suter and Nils Hoglander level linemates. The powerplay scheme is complete trash as well which doesn't help him to produce. They have him sitting on the half wall or in front of the net not touching the puck while Hughes and Miller pass it back and forth the whole time. It's not a coincidence we saw the best of his skill when they had the Lotto line going for a couple games.
