As a rangers fan…. Bustyyyy
Selling low on our homegrown guys just before they break out is a Rangers tradition. It transcends eras and coaches and GMs. But I’m hoping not this time.
Is Kakko producing at the level I’d like to see? Obviously not. But a guy who missed a big chunk of the season, is only hitting his stride after the all star break, is on an expiring contract, and has half the fan base talking nonstop since his second day in the league about how he’s a bust isn’t exactly valuable trade bait. Selling at arguably the lowest possible point would just be falling into the trap of “well he’s a first round pick who plays the wing so he’s either going to be an elite offensive forward or else we should cut our losses no matter how little we get back.” No thanks. I’d rather keep him and see what happens.

Doesn’t matter his production, a trade involving him doesn’t make sense in season…. You can’t sell him on a former 2nd overall pick anymore and without giving extra assets who are you getting that’s better then him? Plus now wheeler is done for the year and I know he wasn’t playing the best either but now the depth on the wing is worse
I would keep Kappo, and trade Goodrow.
Keep Kakko AWAY from the 1st line, meaning keep him away from:(Kreider & Zibanajad). Kreider & Zibanajad don't blend well with anyone on the 1st line, especially Kakko. Think about this…. Look at HOW much better Kakko is playing… and better Kakko is scoring on the 3rd line with LESS minutes —- than he was playing & scoring with MORE minutes on the first line with Kreider & Zibby….. Kreider & Zibby are just totally different animals on 5 v 5… as they are mostly all power-play – and it is very noticible that Kakko's game actually gets extremely dragged down being one the 1st line with them.

Hes not a bust he has some of the best corsi stats for any forward..and hes not going anywhere especially with wheeler out.
