The Oilers are a very good team this year and I think we should definitely go all in for Guentzel regardless if he is going to resign next year or not. If Dubas is actively selling Guentzel, it's definetly better to have him on our team than to play against him with a divisional rival in the playoffs.
When I heard this stat today, it blew my mind; Jakob Markstrom and Connor Brown are both tied in points with 4 assists each ! 1st two lines are good. New D pairings sucked. 3rd and 4th lines had better start playing for their jobs before the trade deadline.
It’s extremely irritating that they even attempted to mess with the defensive pairings how they did. Typical hubris. We don’t have the mulligans to mess around with dumb shit.
Anyone who has played on a team with a weak player like Brown knows the feeling of fk what is he doing. Sit Brown or send him down. Or at least tell him to hit someone if he cant score. He plays like he is 80 years old out there.
Its sad to see Sam get yo-yo'd back and forth….playing well after injury,and still getting healthy scratches. He needs to play in games to get the reps and stay in hockey shape. The new player doesnt score…and Samhas been the spark that the Oilers need … Week in and Week out.
Trading away Kulak to make space for Broberg after the deadline is a terrible idea, broberg is ass and has been in the AHL all year, that is the opposite of how you go deep in the playoffs lol
Patience is great. But I'd worry that someone else, say Vancouver or Vegas, might grab one of these guys before us. Vancouver is obviously not hesitating when it comes to improving their lineup. Would I trade Broberg and a first rounder for Guentzel? Yes. Problem is he is a UFA at the end of the year, and it would probably take some big bucks to re-sign him. Would he want to re-sign with us? Giving up a lot for a player who might only be a short-term rental. Still, need to add to the lineup at all three positions if possible. Still like Markstrom but it sounds as if he's going to maybe New Jersey, Carolina or LA. I'd like to add that there were people who were ready to jump out the window, arms flailing, screaming as loudly as they could after the LA game. All doom and gloom, it's all over, the future is grim, the sun will never shine again, that sort of stuff. Ah, that's silly. Big expectations with us. Not fun watching a game like that. Every team plays a stinker every now and then. Every team goes through dry spells where they lose a few games. Can't expect to win every game. Wishful thinking. Better a stinker now than come April. It says a lot that Perry is now on the second line. Says that maybe a top six forward will be the priority before or at the trade deadline. Big wish list to worry about with one arm tied behind your back because of the cap space issue.
