The Ducks trade Jamie Drysdale for Cutter Gauthier

In January 2024, The Anaheim Ducks traded Jamie Drysdale (along with a 2nd round pick) to the Philadelphia Flyers for prospect Cutter Gauthier. A trade that came with controversy, as Gauthier informed the Flyers, that he would not play for them…

Unpacking the trade, and letting off some steam at the expense of garbage Hockey media, in this edition of District 5.

  1. Initial reaction to the trade was just shock. After years with a GM who seemed clueless, having one who is willing to take decisive action is…new.

Going to root for Drysdale in philly but just looking at the trade i think we got a steal. The whole Flyers organisation going into damage control mode going signals to me that they know it’s bad. Ducks just took advantage of a somewhat unique situation for the better. Being willing to trade a benamed core prospect to improve the team has me in high hopes for the deadline and that GMPV will make the necessary trades to improve the team for the future.

Do you have a discord or similar cause your takes are the most reasonable i have seen from fellow ducks fans. Would love to be able to talk more hockey with you. When you were talking about Gibby in the last video and how he will stand on his head yet when something finally goes through it seems like many fans will blame him, you spoke to my heart as i have had a similar view for some time now.

  2. Dang, luved the mellow video, then bringing FIRE out of the sky in the final minute. Great VID. Keep it up man. GO DUCKS GO~!!

  3. the fire at the end of the video was a surprise – SPICY! drop the philly diss track already, damn.

  4. additionally: your script writing is fluid and full of wit! i love your dry delivery, too. hope good things come your way for this channel, the serious and measured takes on such an overlooked team are sorely needed.

  5. It sounded like he did want to sign with the Flyers after the NCAA season where he led BC in scoring as a freshman, but they wanted him to stay in school rather than pay for his development. I feel like if you draft an NCAA player in the top 5, that's the leverage he has, and as a team you should accept that. They probably should've just signed him.

  6. Good job on the videos! I know it’s hard to make duck content but it’s appreciated to find someone who gives the team an honest look and the time of day!

  7. I don't know a lot of Ducks Lore or anything about Murray, I don't think he got mentioned once in the whole click bait frenzy, so this was a great watch.

  8. Your videos are such good quality and you being a ducks fan is an added bonus! Keep up the great work man

  9. long time ducks fan living in canada and you often echo my thoughts exactly, love your content/coverage, video quality is great and glad your channel exists!
