1995: Patrick Roy’s LAST game as a Canadien! | Retro Recap



On December 2nd, 1995, Patrick Roy and the Montreal Canadiens squared off against the Detroit Red Wings in a game that would go down in NHL HISTORY!

Surrendering 9 goals on 28 shots, Patrick Roy was pulled in the 2nd period of the blowout, only to approach Canadiens then-President Ronald Corey during the game and tell him:

“This is my last game as a Montreal Canadien.

On December 6th, 1995, Patrick Roy was traded to the Colorado Avalanche. Ending the Roy era in Montreal.

  2. This guy gets a new head coaching job, and instead of showing highlights of him winning the Cup or the Conn Smythe, the NHL uploads him getting shelled by the Red Wings in one of the most embarrassing games of his career. What a beautiful troll job.

  3. How often in sports can we look back and pinpoint the moment an organization went into the toilet and stayed there for nearly 30 years?? I NEVER would have believed that the Montreal Canadiens could be this bad for this long with only one trip to the finals, that was fluky to say the least in 30 years. And it can all be traced back to this event, the firing of Serge Savard and the sale of the team.
