The rumor mill is heating up that the New Jersey Devils are looking to make a trade with the Calgary Flames for Jacob Markstrom!
Markstrom would be an immediate (and much needed) improvement in the net for the NJ Devils.

Reading this from Calgary, it'd have to be at least Holtz + 1st round 2024 pick. But that doesn't work at you would not have enough cap room to do this, so you'd have to add a position player Huala to clear enough cap room.

I hope you are going keep your hopes up that Markstom is going to be traded to NJ. If you are going base on a teenager and Weeks that is not good. Are you hoping this happing soon, you have to wait and it may not happened at all. The only thing you are missing in this is that Markstrom is has a No trade Clause in his contract. So he needs to waive that before it happeneds. So that is the big hurdle first and he may not wave it.
I would love markstrom. Gotta factor in his age to I'm sure Fitzy will use that as leverage to

Not in love with Markstrom, but he'd almost certainly be an improvement, and a change of scene might be what he needs too.
The last game vs TB perfectly encapsulated how Vitek has played this year: he made some tremendous saves, but he REALLY needed to make a save on the 2nd Tampa goal when Luke blew a tire. That was a demoralizing goal. And that's happened all year. The team has overcome those goals at an amazing rate – it's why Vitek has a winning record. But they can't do it every time.
What would we have to give up for Markstrom? Any rumors/speculation on that?

If one of your "sources" is Eklund; you need new sources. He is the cartoon character of hockey analysts. He makes up more poop stories strictly for click bait.
Flames might target a Gritsyuk type , He would be no help for a few Years but is a decent return for the Flames and wouldnt bleed the Devils white on the send side.
Markstrom is the only reason why the flames are even a .500 team, he has been excellent all year, and in the last 12 games has the best numbers of any goalie in the league with a .932%. facts. He will help the Devils huge, and there isnt a better goalie to go after, save % is down across the league this year and Markstrom has been one of the best goalies.

Not that the Devils and Flames are complete strangers regarding trading with each other so anything is possible but this is pretty thin information.

My man!!! I saw the comment from Max tagging Markstrom and was commenting all over stuff already saying Markstrom was our guy. Then I saw Max Brodeur tagged Markstrom, I commented saying he's the smartest kid in the comments and he liked my comment. Kids not just smart cuz he's Marty's son, he's a damn good goalie. Also, Markstroms first NHL game was at THE ROCK, for Florida, as Markstrom was mentored by Scott Clemmenson who was our goaltending coach and has steadily worked his way up the ranks. Teammates of Toffoli's so plenty of inside track knowledge on the guy, and other than Jake Allen has the most experience out of any goalie we could ask for. Perfect mentor for both Schmid & Daws! Haha that comment below him is me. LGD!!! Been calling for Markstrom for nearly a month now myself!! Also, Travis Green our new Assistsnt coach was HC of Vamcouver when Markstrom was there. Even more connections within the team.
From what I gather from devils podcasts is devils just don't need a goaltender, rogalski needs to go as well, and if that's the case grab samsonov for a steal and get a coach who can help him get his game back.

If a trade happens NJ would get this year and 2 more years so potentially 3 playoff runs. Cgy could retain as well. All that being said it is going to COST You and its going to cost You alot. We had a bad start really bad start so Markys numbers are a little skewed if You get rid of that horrible start His numbers are great. Last thing is i know there is a lot of noise but theres been a lot of noise around Cgy all year and i am not convinced Cgy is shopping Him in fact im almost positive they are not but i am sure they are listening and if the right deal comes around they may bite but again it will be very costly and Markstrom Himself will have the final say as He has a full NMC…Just My 2 cents

You want some of Flames best players in Hanifin & Markstrom, who would change your current trajectory, you have to give up things you wont be comfortable with. 2 years ago Markstrom was the runner up for the Vezina. Last year yuck, his wife had their first child, might have something to do with it, who knows. This year he's been amazing & our record which is barely .500 would have been waaaay worse if it werent for him. He's not a rental, has 2 more years after this. All of our players on the market are more than capable of getting us at least a 1st rounder & some of them ++. You want two of our better players, starts with your 2024 1st (top 5 protected), Mercer, & Holtz or Seamus, add a 2nd in there to get Conroy to absorb 50% of Hanifin. The price of poker.

Flames fan. Markstrom has these alternating on/off years and this year he's on. When he is he's top 10 quality. He has the highest save % on high danger chances in the league. Good target for any contender, but don't over play him going into playoffs. I'd say this ends up costing Holtz and a high pick if it goes through. Flames prefer Mercer obviously with Lindholm also getting traded.
I wouldn't trade any starters or Casey. Chalk this season up to injuries, get a decent draft pick and sign Casey DeSmith (UFA), Swayman or Carter Hart, (RFAs) in the off season
Tanev would have to come along, or there’s no point.
Markstrom and Tanev get us to the playoffs (hopefully and baring any further injuries) but we definitely need that stay at home, lead by example d-man also, or we shouldn’t do it. IMHO that is.
This video means nothing. They've had their eyes on many goalies. Its all here say until something happens. I don't he's privied to any information. I hope I'm wrong. I'm not hating on your video. It would be nice to get a Markstrom/Hanifan combo. Worth dropping a 1st for in such a scenario
Markstrom would certainly be an improvement over Vanecek. But so would my dead grandmother.
With that being said, of the goalies who are supposedly available, I’d probably rather have Merzlikins.
Markstrom is 33, Merzlikins is 29.
Markstrom has a career .909 save percentage while Merzlikins has a career .906.
I’d take the guy who’s 4 years younger even though he has a SLIGHTLY worse save percentage. He also plays for Columbus…you’d have to imagine that save percentage would be a little higher on a better team.
But beggars can’t be choosers. Either Markstrom or Merzlikins would be a welcome addition to the Devils.
