  1. I still think they need a top 4 stay at home defenseman more than a 2C, but Pettersson as a winger is worth less than Pettersson as a centre. Granted, I don't think that will matter and he'll be paid like a first line centre even though his face-off percentage is bad enough that it necessitates JT Miller playing on that line. I'm just waiting for the Canucks to inevitably trade Kuzmenko, who will go on to score 30-40 goals for another team, and a 1st round pick for a Brandon Sutter type who might be good at some things but isn't a 2C. Meanwhile, the defence isn't good enough, so suddenly, the Canucks are the mirror image of the Leafs. A team with a lot of scoring and good goaltending but a mediocre defence. They're basically that now, with better goaltending.

  2. Chris Tanev for Myers and a pick..free's up cap and Tanev is a stay home who eats puck with his face if he has too. For a 2c if you keep the lotto line together, than try get a Russian playmaker for kuzmenko and mikheyev, maybe Malkin who makes 4.5 mill i believe. the pens connection thing. other than that this team is good.

  3. They dont need to make any changes that are costly, only if it benefits them. See how they do this years play offs and then build on it for next few years.

  4. Petey would be leading the league in scoring if the Lotto line was intact from the beginning of the season. No doubt.

  5. The hand-ringing over what can the Canucks do to get balanced scoring? Their goal differential is the best in the league, +50, Vegas +21, Jets +38, Bruins +28, Rangers +20. The Blueger line has carried the team many nights and they spend their shifts in the offensive zone after creating turnovers. How is that a problem?

Based on 2 games using the lotto line, suddenly there is a giant need for a #2 centre after going 26-11-3 with what they have? Yes, Petey needs a long-term upgrade on his wingers but that sounds like a next year problem to me.

Depth scoring is not this team's problem. A stone-cold Kuzmenko and Mikheyev is a problem. If they get going, the top line problem is addressed.

Yes they need an additional big top-6 winger and a 2nd pair R-shot D. So does every other team. The cap constricts every team. Why can't they add a $6- $7 million player? Because they're $6-$7 million short of cap room.

  6. Don't go all in. They need for their top 6 to sign at a huge discount to make up for that 5 million in dead cap space caused by the Ekman-Larsson deal.

  7. Lindholm is the perfect target. Can get Tanev with him too.

    1st rounder
    Top prospect (Bruz?)
    Podkolzin
    Myers (cap)

    For Lindholm and Tanev?

  8. Gautier was apparently promised a 10 or 12 game looksee at the end of last season, that came with some prorated pay and a signing bonus; The Flyers, as bad as they were last year, were completely cash strapped and couldn't work him and the bonuses in.
