10 seasons, 1 playoff round win, zero real division titles…..

Never close to the President Trophy, keeps getting farther away from winning the Stanley Cup, hasn’t developed a franchise goalie or another star since Matthews, got bullied into overpaid a winger, always in cap hell, fired GM who wanted to him trade him, hired a GM that immediately gave a guy to be a 36 year old cheerleader for 3 years…… it’s time for Brendan Shanahan to be fired

If they flop this season, then yes, its time to move on from Shanahan.

Can’t upvote this enough. He’s barely even spoken publicly.

I’m excited to see this subs behavior if the team goes back to how it was performing before Shanahan got here.

We should start our own NHL team. With blackjack, and hookers!

We’ll start it in hamilton, we can be the hamilton whores, and we can get Danny devito be our mascot as his character from IASIP

i mean the division has been pretty good tho

  6. This year has been disappointing so far. But that’s due to the lack of goaltending and defensive effort. Under this regime this team has been the best leafs team in the regular season ever! I don’t think the regular season should be forgotten. With that said they’ve had almost no success in the playoffs since last seasons first round. I think it’s quite clear, it’s time for a big change. That means one of the top 4 out the door for a defensemen or number 1 goalie. Shanahan getting the boot and Keefe being replaced. Now, I don’t fully believe Keefe is the main problem here but he’s been out coached time and time again in the playoffs. He’s had enough chances.

They then need to work on the effort. It’s quite obvious they can score and are offensively minded. It’s time they revise this and become a more defensively sound team. All easier said than done of course.

It’s the MLSE board that makes every decision, not Shanahan.

Kinda wild we’ve been top 7 in the nhl for the past 5 years and have zero division titles, really shows how strong the Atlantic (specifically Boston and Tampa) is/has been

In any other division we would have had at least two if not three division titles in that time

He’s needs to go, hasn’t done anything as team president

I may get downvoted to hell, but hear me out. He is the team president. It’s not his job to produce a winning team. His job is to produce a profitable product to the board of governers and the owners. He has done and is now leading the league as the most valuable team. Having said that, he has to let the GM do his job and make a championship team. Stay out of the way. It’s not your job. He threw Dubas under the bus, and is now the captain of the ship blaming the sinking on the deck hands.

Hockey management are all the old boys club, looked how good those Oilers dynasty players turned executives are. Speaking as an old person myself.

I’m grateful for his regime. The JFJ and Burke days were bad man. I think it’s also pretty easy to list a paragraph of all the impressive things we’ve done since he took over.

Am I disappointed we haven’t gone further? Absolutely.

Are there things I wish he handled differently? 100%.

But I also know that he wants to win just as badly as we do.

Happy new year, hopefully this is our year.

Yes but he helped bettman get rid of Goodnow (along with linden. Bill guerin and others) so he’s been given this job he is not qualified for. And will keep it sadly.

Here’s the thing, if Shanny just focused on the business side of things and kept his noise outta the hockey ops side I wouldn’t care about his job.
