What a classic Gallagher game. Absolute menace all over the ice, stirring it up everywhere. It wasn’t always for the best, but it’s worth it for the nostalgia.

Gotta admit I don’t really understand Ylonen’s deployment. He’s a major part of the 2nd PP unit, but there’s this reluctance to play him higher in the lineup consistently. I’d like to see him get some chances with skilled players.

Glad they rebounded a bit after that rough first half, very fun third even if they were still too sloppy at times.

Can’t expect to win with such garbage passing for 60 minutes.

  3. godzirah

It’s starting to be a real concern that we ALWAYS make the extra unnecessary pass rather than shooting.

  4. willard287

Honestly feels like they lose all creativity when they have an extra forward on the ice

  5. bloblob37

Look on the bright side, we have three goals! (In our last three games 😔)

  6. ItTakesTreeGoals

Nice CC hail Mary shot with 10 seconds left that ended up all the way back in our end.

He’s just throwing pasta at the wall to see what sticks.

I love CC, but man it’s hard to watch.

Dammit, I know Slaf is looking a lot better lately, but there were at least 3 great passes from Suzuki to him this game that would’ve been amazing scoring chances and he just had no awareness that a pass might be coming.

Well-deserved loss. Played one period. Even then, very disjointed. Our first line was absolute ass. Should have played the vets and scrubs more. And Gally looked prime time! Oh well, onwards…

  9. douce_abeille

1 goal in the last 2 home games. With how many PP ? Embarrassing.
I’m just a little bit tired of the lack of offense for the last decades ? Can’t even get a ppg player

Also, I think Matheson is tired. He’s playing more than he ever played in his career. Almost 30 minutes just last night and against Detroit too. It’s maybe too much for him ?

This team needs a lot added to the Forward group. The offense is anemic. I have hope for the defenseman on the roster and in the system.

Feel way less optimistic about the forward group. A major trade is most likely needed in the next year or two. And I feel that is more realistic than a FA, because Montreal never seems to be able to get any big ones.

No exaggeration here, when was the last time we finished in the top half of the league for goals for? When Kovalev was here?

Like I guess we might have done it a few times during the early 10’s when we had a great power play but I’m so fucking sick of watching games like this year after year after year. Score some fucking goals.

    On a limb prediction results:

    – Gallagher goal. No, but his best game.

    – Habs score first but give up in 3rd. No, Gallagher was close though and Habs never gave up.

    – Evans/Stephens goal. Yes, Evans.

    – McCarron fight. No.

  13. amm0ranth

somebody needs to hypnotize suzuki to get him to shoot more atp

  14. banevadegang

Sooner or later Suzuki is gonna have to own up or/and be held accountable for his poor performances.

We’re talking about the next Bergeron with moves a la Datsyuk, as called by analysts and journalists before he was even traded here. Unacceptable season so far.

The first line next game should be Slaf, Monahan and Anderson. Caulfield can’t catch a pass to save his life. What happened to him?

  15. Longshanks123

Habs better pick up their home record, this is not a hard place to play this year. If they keep sucking at home idk if Molson will continue supporting the rebuild … people don’t want to pay to see this

  16. sean_psc

Lacklustre game for the first two periods. They poured it on to some extent in the third, but still looked disorganized a lot of the time, and on a team that already doesn’t have a huge amount of offensive firepower it’s especially hard when you main offensive weapons are all slumping.

But good for Jake Evans to get a goal, he’s been working hard all season and hasn’t had much reward thus far.

  17. G_skins31

What’s happened to caufield? Can’t hit the net, slow on his skates, smothered the second he gets the puck. This rebuild will never work if we are paying and playing second liners as first liners

  18. MaulyMac14

We really shoot ourselves in the foot mentally by consistently allowing early leads and only turning it on late in the third. It must be exhausting for the boys. It’s a lot easier to play 60 minutes when you actually play the full 60 minutes.

    I thought Allen played well.

  19. Beefiest_bison

Weird game, not much to say. Some pushback in the 3rd, offense was mostly anemic until then

  20. Dexteris

I get the frustration of everybody tonight. I am as well, felt like a big part of this game was sloppy and nonchalant.

Unfortunetly, this is what a rebuild is. The team is young, it’s prone to irregularity. We have to be patient.

  21. butter-was-taken

There’s not enough offense being generated from the defense. It’s nice to see Ghule or Struble or Kovy jump in on the rush once in a while but we’re really lacking skills on the backend and asking too much from our 1st line.

  22. maximalx5

Man I did not expect this GDT to only have negative comments. Y’all aren’t wrong, but I was personally happy with the fight the boys brought in the last 30 minutes.

The beginning was definitely rough (not surprised Nashville showed up strong after their terrible game yesterday), but despite being down 2-0 and shots being like 26-10, the guys kept fighting and made this a game. Our offense is struggling a bit without a doubt, but when 2 of your top 6 and 3-4 of your top 9 are out with injury (compared to exactly 0 injuries for Nashville), back to backs are going to be tougher.

It’s a loss, and not the best 60-minute performance from our guys, but I’d rather look at the positives and move on to the next game.
