  1. I think realistically for Detroit a step forward the goal should to be an above
.500 record and start stealing games from our Atlantic opponents more importantly.

  2. Those deals are good, but thinking about it if a team has 5-6 of these and are still a bubble team. Ottawa has to start making the playoffs or it's a big yikes from me.

  3. The only way Mo gets 8 years if he wants 8 years. Steve Yzerman has repeatedly said that he tries to work with the player to find the right deal. He will probably not force or even advocate for an 8 year deal. I think the contract will be 5 years at $8.65 million per year. This would satisfy both sides. Seider would be able to cash in on another lucrative contract at 28. Yzerman would have set the bar that no one makes more per year than Dylan Larkin at $8.7 million for at least the next few seasons.

  4. Okay, I understand where comments like "we won't be contenders in 3 years" and "If you stack the top line then our second line will be below league average" come from, but if we're at the point where we're saying Larkin had an awful shot when he was young and now he's good but not elite, you're just too damn cynical for me. Look at Larkin's first NHL goal. Look at his goals over the years. There's no way to actually measure how good a shot is, you can only look at results. Larkin is among the best shooters in the league.
