"There are older guys on the team that need deals… James Reimer needs a deal." Maybe with another team, certainly not with us. If we need a 35+ year old goalie, I'm sure we can find one at or below the $1.5m we're giving Reimer this season. But unless Reimer actually wows us this year, I don't see him returning.
At this point, I don't know that Toronto can afford Nylander. That includes the cap they'll free up by not retaining Murray and Muzzin. Hell, it almost looks like Toronto replaced their cap guy with the Monopoly guy. Even with $10.3m tied up in LTIR, the Leafs are still $2.9m above the cap. I think we place a bid for his services at free agency, and see what happens. As for Tatar… I'm not sure we should pick up a 32-year-old player with anything longer than a 3yr deal. If we're looking to throw money and term at a guy, wait for Nylander to hit FA.

Nylander is basically another Larkin on the wings who costs more than Larkin, not impressive, so NO. DET better off see what they have in their players on the roster before trading for another mid-level player.

I can't see Nylander coming. Just too expensive to get and sign him. Tatar I don't mind because the Wings are light on top 6 LW's. It's Berggren and ig Rasmussen rn without moving Cat or Raymond over. But idk if Tatar is top 6 quality anymore. I could see him on the 2nd line, but the hole kinda feels more on the 1st line cuz I'd rather it not be Raymond or Perron on their off wing with Larkin and Cat. Plus, it seems like a good fit to have Berggren on the 2nd.
