EA should ad this in the new game
Meh, dont buy it fully. Dont care enough to bother about it. They got the easiest intro team in the history of the NHL and then lucked** into a cap situation that was beneficial. Congrats on winning Vegas
NHL needs 2 caps. a soft cap which cant be gone over in the regular season and a absolute hard cap (which even with LTIR) cant be exceeded under no circumstances). This would be enforced year round. this ends any debate about cap circumvention. or cap carries over into the playoffs. that would change trade deadline day.
huh, must be August…
Stone I could see being legit. He did play a good part of the year. At the same time, I could also see a bit of funny business with him maybe not coming back the last few weeks/month of the season becuase of the contract… Kucherov just looks bad being out the entire year. I personally think that they need to make 1 day/year (I like about 3 days before the season starts) where you have to be at/below the cap w/o LTIR… That way, you can’t stock pile a few extra guys during the signing period and that’s when I see LTIR being abused… the offseason. Once that day is over.. you can then place guys on the LTIR and go pick up people to fill the role…it just looks better giving other teams the shot to sign that big name because that team can’t until after they get below the cap on the big cutdown…
Reminder: Pietreangelo viciously slashed Draisaitl, and only received a 1 game suspension.
One solution is to implement the salary cap for the playoffs the same way as the regular season. Modify the roster caoacity so that teams can still carry as much as they want into the playoffs, but they are only allowed to ice a salary compliant roster for the games.
I think the original concern for the owners was losing assets that are aquired when the ltir player comes back. With this, the owners dont have to worry about that, and teams can't overload during playoffs
