what on god green earth are you talking about JD? no one has shown they want to play here? All the core has said is that they dont want to play anywhere else, and they do sign. Reilly signed, Marner, Matthews, Nylander, Tavares ….. You guys are talking nonsense about Nylander. Pastrnak didnt sign till March and NO ONE TALKED ABOUT IT. Stamkos right now in the last year of his deal and declining fast. NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT STAMKOS not negotiating. get a grip on reality. Its August and there is no urgency. No one cares right now.
DISCLAIMER: The core is not going anywhere. They will stay in Toronto long term. McDavid signed 8 yrs cause he had Gretzky talking in his ear. Matthews doesnt have that. Matthews will sign 3 5yr deals. 15 years in Toronto. McDavid two 8yr deals. 16 years in Edmonton. Not that much of a difference.

Matthews not being signed has to be a red flag, maybe he'll just say I'm not resigning and will play out the year. Nylander won't budge, either you pay him or he'll walk. That said, I'd trade Willy and get a top 4D. If Matthews drags it out then ask him where he will go and get something. You can't lose both for nothing if neither guy signs before the deadline

How many MILLIONS is Matthews worth more than Nylander? 3 Million? If you give Mathews $13 shouldn't Nylander get $10? So give Nylander $9.5 for 8 years and Matthews $12 million for 5 years. Anything more and the Leafs NEVER win a Stanley Cup!
