  1. My ppl at what cost are you willing to give up to get this man? You wanna give them Jonatan Berggren? I’m not good with that when Alex can be signed next summer with out giving up these guy. I also don’t like the 8 years. I want him but idk id rather be patient.

  2. Great points here, nice video.

I wouldn’t do 8 years either. Nobody but the captain and maybe Seider gets that, but shorter terms are better for everyone anyway.

Long contracts remind me of what happened with Franzen which was accidental or the Minnesota pair I can’t recall, they just sucked after signing those contracts.

Some players give up after they get the money.
Long contracts should be very rare.

  3. As a sens fan i just want cat gone. Rather cap space we have a bunch of young guys to sign. Give me kubalik or berggren and propect or pick

  4. Yes good video Ty. But Stevie Y can (and needs to) take his time because DeBrincat has said he wants to play in Detroit. Steve has leverage. If not in 2023 at a reasonable rate, then as a free-agent in 2024 without having to expend any compensation.

Only thing that bothers me is what Steve Y said before the draft about 'dealing with the fallout' at a later date.
I think his 'available' list is Kubalik, Bergren, Soderblom, Johansson, Willander, 2024 or 2025 picks outside the 1st Rd. I hope Bergren stays.

  5. Stevie’s problem is, he overpaid for Larkin. Now he’s trying to low ball the Cat because he knows the player wants to be in Detroit.

  6. The more I hear about Yzerman’s staunch stance in negotiating contracts the more I actually agree with him.
This is a chess game right now between Yzerman & Debrincat’s camp.
Yzerman offers 5yrs max and somewhere around Larkin’s salary, he isn’t gonna offer Debrincat more then his best player.
Debrincat has some options here….stay in Ottawa and hope they find a trade partner willing to give him what he wants or agree to Yzermans discounted offer but he gets to play where he lives.
Or stay in Ottawa and go to the highest bidder next summer in FA and he’ll get more then Yzerman is offering.
Detroit fans are putting the heat on Yzerman to get him….if he doesn’t fans might start losing their patience with him.
    The Wings need goal scorers.
If Debrincat stays in Ottawa on the other hand he may get injured or have an even worse year then he did last year driving his value down.
Since Debrincat said he won’t resign long term with Ottawa ,they’re basically getting shafted here, every team in the league can play hardball with them, knowing the Cat will be a FA next summer at the ripe old age of 26… they may have to take what they can get and try to act happy about it.

Who is gonna blink first here?

A lot at stake for both Yzerman & Debrincat…stay tuned!

  7. How may 8 years deals for more than top dollar ( plus what it costs in trade to get the player) have qorked out vsxnot worked out . Erik Karlson, anybody ?

  8. the pressure is all on ottawa. they gave away a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd draft pick for debrincat, and he doesnt want to be there. the longer the red wings wait, the less they have to give up for debrincat.

  9. If debrincat really wanted to be here for next 4 to 6 years he would know yzerman is not paying him more then larkin.

    The longer this goes
The more it seems debrincat is gonna price himself out of being a red wing.

Starting to side with yzerman on this one

  10. Way too much hype on all of this now. The team isn’t going to automatically quit misplaying games because this one guy is going to score goals. Suter was the most consistent player on the ice last season and where is he now?
