Trading Dowd and having Protas center the 4th line is not a bad idea but only if we’re packaging Dowd with other assets to bring in a top 6 forward, not just a couple future mid round picks. He’s a solid player on a fairly friendly contract.

You aren’t moving up to #5 for a player touted as the best player in this draft before the Russia shit for 1 first (even if you add a prospect and two thirds). I think people forget that Bedard was not always the clear #1
Moving up to #5 is almost 100% going to need 2023 first and one of 2024/2025 firsts. That’s just the basline
