Compared to Nail Yakupov…. Ouch!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I don't see the comparables at all. Nail was a complete failure. Alexi is obviously good enough to be a 2nd line player on most teams. He's just not an elite player.
Shots fired! And I think I wld know, I bought a yakupov blues jersey they day we got him. I wish alk thebest to him in the khl but man, he just cldnt figure it out unfortunately
Also all this videobeing said, I think k it's too early to compare him to yak, 2 years from now? Yes
One of the biggest busts in recent memory
Nail wasn't a bust until year 2 in the NHL.
From what's come out he was a difficult personality to work with, but ultimately his failure was just as much a failure of development on behalf of the Edmonton oilers.
I don't generally see comparisons to him as a negative until after their second season.
I am die hard rangers his bust to me 🙄
Call him a bust, I’d still want the wings to offer sheet him for a longer term deal in the higher end of the 2nd rounder and under compensation threshold.
Dude is a 20 goal guy as a 21 year old. He won’t be elite but I do think will be a solid second liner
As an Oilers fan I'll be the first to admit, Yakupov may have been mishandled as a rookie. We had a decent season during Yakupov rookie year all thanks to Ralph Kruger (head coach). The players loved him and it seemed that next year their record would have improved. Except management wasn't happy they missed the playoffs with three 1st overall picks and blew everything up. Fired the GM, fired the Coach and brought in a rookie GM Craig Mctavish as well as a rookie coach Dallas Eakins. Add in other key factors like Oilers never had any defence, wasted Dubnyk's prime years. That being said Dubnyk could have been a really good goalie if management would have brought in support on the back end.
Rangers refused to include Laffy or even Kakko in a trade for Eichel how stupid wasn’t that? Rangers value their own players so highly they believe they could trade a third liner and a 1st for a bonafide superstar with a long-term contract.
QUESTION Lego, would you rank Laf a bigger bust than Zadina? Zadina shows promise as a good forward in the NHL, but nowhere near what he was drafted as (sniper, insane goal scorer)
Hard to say Lafreniere is going to flame out like Yakupov has.
stutzle>
Just more click bait Lafreniere headlines. Vancouver would be lucky to get him. Yakupov was given every chance to succeed while Laffy has been given every chance to fail. Hasn't even cracked 16 minutes a game. Only Yakupov can say that from all the #1 overall picks over the past 10 years. However Yakupov in his first 2 years had over 2 minutes of PP time, Laf avg barely 1 minute a game with the second unit. You can't compare him to Stutzle who averages 21 minutes a night and 4 minutes on the PP and didnt come in with crazy expecations or pressure in Ottawa. In their second year Laffy had 19 5×5 goals Stuztle had 15. Its not his fault Gallant buried him without any PP time, no plan and no system. Give the guy 2 years averaging 19-20 min and 3 PP min a night and then call him a bust if he doesn't produce.
