I completely agree about Meier. You don’t need to have him extend for the deal to make sense when he’s going to have a lot of trade value in the off-season. I think you lay what it takes to get him and if he doesn’t want to re-sign, you move him at or before the draft. Which is probably also when you move Dubois as well. They basically need to go for it this season and if it doesn’t work, make use of the pieces they need to move to re-tool. Can always move the pieces they get for Dubious or Meier to get roster players if they don’t want to do a longer rebuild.
Not so sure this team has the ability to “go for it”. The 3rd and 4th lines are a complete disaster. That should have been addressed months ago. They have no killer instinct and seem to blame things on getting goalied! This is nothing new for this group. Sadly I think this team is nothing better than an average team at best. Really should have been 0 and 4 on this road trip. Old habits for years and years. They just don’t have it as currently constructed.
The biggest problem the Jet's have is that they don't win the games they are expected to. My guess is they will save face and beat the NYI in their next meeting but they should have taken both. Still one of the best clubs on the ice, overall, but very inconsistent and this does not for a Stanley Cup make. Good luck anyway.
