Why did the ref have to use the phone.? He only had to look at the replay and consult with his linesmen to give the player a match penalty. He shouldn't have to call anyone.
The ref needs to be disciplined. He wasn't calling any of the other penalties. And it was clearly embellishment, he made the decision not to wear a full cage and then acted like a baby.
Lets be honest, if the refs called the headshots against the bruins earlier in the game this would not have happened. Bert hit in the mouth after his goal, Shoulder to the face of Bergy. I think the 3rd might have been after this one, but Coyle got a stick to the mouth as well. Not 1 of those 3 got called, so the Bruins (like marchand after the bergy hit) were pissed.
