Amount of times he completely ran over clutterbuck
    Chicago 0
    Montreal 1

  2. CanadianCharm41

Dach is the real deal, went through an injury bug but he is going to be a big time guy

  3. MarshmallowLuka

Sometimes players just need a change of scenery

  4. FurtherUpheaval

What? He was traded for a 1st rd pick and No. 66 after he clearly wasn’t a 3rd overall pick like PLD is. His TOI in Montreal has skyrocketed and he’s out there losing night after night. There’s no patience required, one Franchise is properly tanking for Bedard and the other is creating a losing culture after going to the Cup finals.

  5. Calling__Elvis

It could be the environment too. Chicago has a lot of pro sports. Montreal has the habs, so he gets more attention in MTL.

  6. JustSixTrees

Yep, Dach is a great example but Dylan Strome as well. They could t even trade Strome, just let him walk and now he’s solid with the caps. Poor asset management is mostly why they are in a slow rebuild. Huge contracts to veterans (Seabrook, Keith, Toews) and lack of hitting on draft picks is going to keep them rebuilding for a while. At least they have Seth Jones who is a hockey player

    Fuck Chicago

    Tanking

    Raping

Just a real shit show of a franchise

  8. IdyllicOleander

The problem isn’t the youth, the problem is Chicago. Management and ownership is absolute garbage.

These kids go play for different organizations and thrive, that’s enough to tell you how bad Chicago’s system is.

  9. Hopeful_Cod_8486

I think it also has to do with these probably getting much more ice time and power play time than in Chicago

  10. Project_Habakkuk

Now do one for Brandon Hagel, then Alex Debrinkat, then Dylan Strome, then Jan Rutta, then David Kampf, then Teuvo Teravainen, then Artemi Panarin… and thats all i can think of off the top of my head

  11. iKraziee

I guess we’ll see in 5 years with Bedard eh?

  12. No, they should keep trading young studs to other teams and exist in perennial “rebuilding but trading our young players so wtf kinda rebuild are we even doing?”

  13. phudgeoff

Chicago was and still is a terrible team. Most people thought they would absolutely run away with the 1OA pick before the season.

They’re still paying off the mortgage of winning 3 cups. I doubt they actually wanted to get rid of the player. It’s a business decision.

  14. msmith629

Well how can you tank for bedard if you keep your young up and coming players?

  15. nukfan94

I don’t think they gave up on him, I think they just wanted this team to be as bad as possible, and he wasn’t A+ enough to prevent a swap.

  16. soxfan10

He was also rushed to the NHL by Bowman, thrown into the fire by a bad coach, got injured and didn’t really thrive here. If they were smart and kept him in the minors/WHL, then it would be a different story. But Bowman was trying to save his job at that point so he rushed him and the team is paying for that now

  17. Dude_McNuggz

Absolutely. I’m constantly seeing our players go on to be successful in other places. It could be the “change of scenery”, or we could have a serious problem with our development system.

  18. Uh no. I would say no. They traded him at the best time since he just wasn’t ever gonna do well in Chicagos system.

I’ll admit Boqvists trade was too early though. But that’s Bowman’s fault and he’s gone so we’ll see what Davidson does.

  19. DivClassLg

How Chicago ‘handles’ their players is an enormous problem

  20. BillyJayJersey505

I never really disagreed with the trading Debrincat and Dach. I just thought that they should have held out for more assets than they received if they were going to trade them considering the age of both players. They were both young enough to be part of their rebuild.

  21. jackyliam12

I’m literally begging my mom to take me to see Blackhawks vs either Toronto or Washington later this year. (Hoping preseason tix will be available when I’m in Chicago in September) bc I literally want to see how insane ovi is on the Ice in person and Chicago is the closest nhl team to my moms house

  22. dropthepuck88

There’s no doubt that the Hawks didn’t have patience with their young guys under Bowman. However, moving Dach was Davidson’s move. I think that was more of a “he doesn’t fit the mold of the player I’m looking for”. I don’t really agree with moving on from him, but I’m glad Kirby has a fresh start somewhere else and is playing well.

  23. Flimsypineapple7

Pretty sure the trade was not about giving up on a player .. but more about dropping valuable prospects that will mess with a losing system. Despite that he has moved to another team and is “flourishing” he may have done the same in Chicago this year and that could hve made the team very middling. Not good enough for the playoffs and not bad enoigh for a high percentage in the lottery.

It is much easier to have a narrow viewed opinion on the topic and make a visual comparison that fits a negative narrative than it is to see a bigger picture. Dach had value and the team exploited it to get future prospects that will age with their hopeful new franchise guy next year.

  24. Phil_The_Thrill45

Durrrrr of course. They just ditched all their good players cause they want Bedard

  25. KlarckWahvorlee

Chicago just needs a rebuild. Not even Kane is performing there.

  26. __PreZZ__

He’s doing ok, but any player with average offensive skills will get high number of passes with Caufield and Suzuki on the same line

  27. They’re one of the biggest piece of shit franchises to ever walk the face of this earth.

Imagine working for a company that openly covered the sexual abuse of someone in YOUR EXACT POSITION. And then effectively ended that persons career because they asked for a sexual assault to be reported properly. And then ask how much would be in your mind , and why it would be a breathe of fresh air to get away from that shit hole.

  28. LongBoyLobster

Who was it that Chicago took with that Isle’s pick? Was it Frank Nazar? Kid’s gonna have some expectations if Dach ends up being good and the hawks miss on Bedard.

  29. Flex1855

Back before they traded youth like debricat and dach they should’ve been more patient

  30. Sauronsindexfinger

Or maybe the former team sucked? Those numbers are not drastically different.

  31. UnveilingCow_9

I would say yes, but I also still think that the Dach trade was 100% the right move for the Hawks at the time.

Dach was slowly developing throughout his rookie year and the entire organization was initially willing to be patient with his development. However, after he came back from his wrist injury he looked like a totally different player – he stopped improving and regressed on most of his gains.

Not everyone had given up on him, but it was obvious to everyone that his growth trajectory had been altered, and that he certainly wasn’t going to live up to his #3 overall pick status. The situation in Chicago obviously wasn’t giving him any help either.

Dach wasn’t Davidson’s pick and he didn’t have the same attachment the Bowman regime had to him. It was clear he was struggling in Chicago and that his growth was being stunted. It made all the sense in the world to pull the trigger on that deal and get a young, skilled, potential top six center in his place; it was basically a reset.

While I personally didn’t see it coming, I’m happy things are working out for Dach in Montreal. However, I truly don’t believe he would’ve enjoyed the type of career rejuvenation in Chicago this year, with this team.

  32. TheCivilRanger

Panarin, Strome, Hagel, DeBrincat, Teravainen, Dach, Boqvist, Danault, etc… it’s just kind of their thing since winning those cups. Instead of developing and continuing to be a good team they just sold the farm and signed Jones. Bunch of fools. I really hope they don’t get Bedard just so they can’t fuck him up.

  33. alecsharks

I don’t get this … Is this Dach statline supposed to be impressive?

Sure, it’s better than what he had in Chicago, but as a young player (let alone a 3rd overall pick) I feel like that’s just a very normal progression … And still pretty meh considering his draft position and what the Habs paid.

  34. MandogsXL

He needed a change, I don’t think he would’ve seen the same points return in Chicago
