i dont understand sending Reinbacher down, they have 2 right Ds on the team, rest of the guys have to play on their off side. I think that Dobson-Matheson, Hutson-Reinbacher, Guhle- Carrier would be the perfect pairings for the season. Xhekaj as 7th D, and they can do whatever they want with Struble, i bet anything that Reinbacher would(and maybe will this season if they call him up) outplay both Xhekaj and Struble by a very big margin. It is the exact same thing i said about Florian Xhekaj outplaying Dach and Teixier. This is just pure asset management and i dont understand this when this team is trying to contend for SC this year, we are not rebuilding anymore. If we talk best possible lineup on day 1, Reinbacher must be there instead those other guys i mentioned.

Monty had a good pre-season. He came into camp in shape and shed some weight. Shows his is taking it serious. Also playing for his future.
Pretty good roster plan overall.
Monty was always going to start with the team unless they managed to trade him beforehand. Now he has the chance to get his trade value up. Kent has always said (not publicly, but to those close) that Dach was going to be given a chance no matter what; I just would prefer that he got a chance at 2C, which has always been his spot to lose. And re: Engström vs Reinbacher, to be fair he is closer to ready, and I still am pretty confident Engström will be traded in a package and Reinbacher may join the team later this year. VERY happy about Xekaj, and hope he stays with the big club. Very much needed style of player who impressed with layers of abilities he brings.

Fearless predictions: 1- I trust the judgement of our coaching staff re: Engstrom. Rein will develop just a bit more. I suspect Struble, Arber and possibly Guhle are all subject to being used in important trades during the season. This will make room for both Engstrom and Reinbacher. 2- Dach was signed and will be played to raise his value, but MSL won’t hesitate to dress Texier or Flo before him. 3- Flo will be in the lineup against more violent teams or in away games where there is more pressure on the habs stars. And in the playoffs, practically every night. 4-Bolduc may also be a healthy scratch if he doesn’t bring it.
5- 84 games in a brutal division: The Habs practically NEED a good B-squad in the stands and in Laval to do well in the Atlantic. The NHL today requires a huge, even uncomfortable number of good players sitting out or in the minors to stay excellent the whole season and have sth extra in the playoffs. There will be a lot of player rotation this year as a matter of course. It’s the Habs new system, yes they will trim the roster a bit with trades but managing abundance is the new system here. I could be wrong, these are predictions.
Engstrom is highly underrated by the media

Very likely it's showcasing for Engstrom. However I've watched a dozen Rocket games in person over the last two seasons, and without a doubt Engstrom has been the better player. Reinbacher fills a better need and will eventually earn his spot. But the decision today is not a surprise. Engstrom has elite skating, gifted offensively and has been a full time RD for almost his entire pro career. Long term I would love to see him paired with Guhle instead of Carrier, and Reinbacher with Hutson.

I think that sending Rheinbacher down to Laval is a gambit on the part of Kent Hughes. I think that there is a big trade in the works.

Why is struble playing with hutson???
Reinbacher will get a callup for sure as he's RHD. Any idiot that think that Dach and Monty would be waived are out of touch with reality. Fowler does need more development and needs at least up to couple more seasons in the AHL to be properly seasoned.
Fowler being the main goalie in AHL is a good thing.
I believe if Reinbacher can stay solid I need some improvement he will definitely get up sometime soon
