Jason Cundy & Jamie O’Hara DEBATE if English football has LOST its identity!

1. It will click for England in the end: these kids come from the best academies/ best league in the world. As a foreigner, my observation is, England have a mentality problem: they always have , you can blame managers all you like, but it was the players that let the nation down against Argentina, not Tuchel
   That dropping back and allowing the ball to be recycled from left to right (to Messi) unopposed* absolutely inexcusable* for Jude to bust a gut to try close the Fernandez shot (screams mentality problem) when him and Kane had to just occupy the space outside the box and be a nuisance

2. I hear a lot of coping in this program. Gordon is there and he told you the truth straight. Spain are currently European Champions, World Champions and Olympic Champions. With both Men and Women. You can't compete. Losers cope, winners win.

   The dream of direct ⚽️ being effective at international level failed woefully in the 70s, 80s and 90s…
   Insanity is repeating the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

9. I think it was McManaman when he played for Real Madrid said, the players and coaches (at Madrid) would pray to play against English sides in the later stages of the champions league.
   Because English sides just run around a lot and were very direct.
   All they had to do was keep the ball and pick them off.

10. It depends upon the opposition. Broadly speaking, most nations below 10th ranking we should be dominating the ball.

    Anyway i think we build this possession aspect of the current Spanish side up too much, they dominated from 2010-2016, then lost their way with pointless boring possession. Theyre just in a good moment right now because the quality of the players (mainly from barca) playing that style is high, they’re cohesive and they have a good manager.

    Notice how there are no Real Madrid players? They have never played that style and theyve won everything.

    The possession thing isn’t the holy grail, but we do need to be able to do it when it’s needed for certain games and styles of opposition

11. The irony is that Spain have only played in that typical Spanish style relatively recently.
    That pretty much started with Cruyff managing Barcelona, and even then it took an entire generation of that style of football to kick in and reach its peak.
    Spain in say, the 90's, had many good players but they were nowhere near as dominant as they are now.

12. How can England play like they used to every player be sent of the games changed and our players are just looking for excuses, there is no national pride in this country and you can tell on the pitch the difference between us and other nations that their players love their country

13. The only time english football lost its identity was in 1966. The rest of the time it's been 100% consistent: all talk!

15. Maybe if we had the climate of Spain we would look towards keeping the ball, its about conserving energy. Never playing 4-4-2 long ball in spains heat. Thats why cultures are different in my oppinion.

22. Cundy is a realist. Jamie sounds like a typical spurs fan… think feel hope talk. The facts are exactly what Gordon said. There is nothing to debate with someone’s experience compared to people watching the odd game. How can you outdo Spain with what Spain do. Keep in mind France are the closest to spains style and they get dominated…. I don’t get what there is to debate with what Gordon and Cundy said. Jamie sounds like a fan that thinks his team is better than what they are. What has he seen England do ever to consider they are on the same level of Spain. Jamie is clueless 😂

23. I thought our identity was to play really well for 80% of a tournament, then capitulate at the end.
