Yeah its the only choice, as i said when Yzerman was fired, nobody in their right mind wants the Wings job, Illitch has screwed up this team and hindered Yzerman.
No one wants to work for this owner and organization who refuses to pay for talent. So Greenberg is already on the payroll and declined the offer. Who else could do it that he doesn't have to pay? Horcoff was the only one left that was on the payroll. Please sell both teams!!!! I'm tired of this bum ass owner!!

Horcoff was already interim GM so it seems like they're just giving him the power to sign guys. No doubt because they desperately need to sign Edvinsson ASAP. Crazy levels of incompetence coming from Ilitch though. I'm betting they won't hire anybody to the role til 2027 because anybody who already works in a managerial role at an NHL team isn't going to bail on their organization just to have to scramble around in Detroit. Ilitch burned through the entire offseason and accomplished nothing. Could also imagine them just naming Horcoff officially to the role later too. Hilarious that they release a self-aggrandizing statement about how they're attracting "leaders across the industry."
