  1. The part about the top draft pick hurts. Looking back at all of our top10 picks in the history of the org, we've had 1 4th overall, 6 6ths including this year, 3 9ths and 1 10th… We stayed middle of the pack for so long it hurts.

  2. Couple things

We will see at least 3, very likely 4 or 5 prospects finishing their college careers and join the flames, the first big wave of rookies accumulated during the rebuild. So the roster will be very different, more skilled and way more fun come april.

Second, its cullen potter, not porter 😂.

Thirdly, the rebuild has imo gone very well so far, and we will likely acrue more picks via whitecloud, frost or other trades at the deadline. The one thing is, as youve said, that we are in the middle of the rebuild without the centerpiece. We have great depth in all positions generally, but no clear franchise player. That will likely and hopefully change this year at the draft. Until we land that gamechanger i would say the rebuild is still a ways out for being complete. But, because of that deep prospect pool, as soon as we land that major piece, we are in great shape. 1 major piece may not be enough, but having at least one is 100% needed to be considered a success.

  3. Huby was such a bad pick up for us and we only got Treliving to blame who is nowhere to be found anymore. We will be a bit of dumpster fire this year, but it's going to be some very entertaining hockey to watch. Go Flames Go!

  4. Is this team going to be the worst in the league next season?? No , I think the blue line improvements will help win a few more games . But that being said , they highly unlikely won't be close to the playoffs either . I just hope to continue to see effort in every game .

  5. Hot take: They'll be better than the Blackhawks.

Not so hot take: They'll be better than the Canucks.

Good team or bad team, the Flames always give full effort. Bet they end up 13th in West (one other team will be much worse than everyone thinks). Respect.

  6. How did they ever eke out 34 wins with a roster whose highest point getter had 45 points? I honestly see the Flames in the NHL basement. Even Vancouver likely will surpass them. It sucks that their first season in the brand new building will have nearly zero percent playoff chances attached to it, but rebuilds have to go through some painful years, I get it. Great video!

  7. I think we will be bad again, but we will be a more fun team with young guys like; Parekh, Nemec, and Gridin to watch. In late 2022 and 2023 I was getting a bit turned off from the team, honestly. I'd be happy to hear the team is in this spot now where I'm excited again, because I wasn't sure for awhile there.

  8. Huberdemption. If Huberdeau returns to his 2024-2025 form he’ll be fine. It’ll be tough without a center like Nazim Kadri to play with; however, if his hip feels good & he’s shooting the puck & driving the net like he can he’ll be fine. He wasn’t awful last year, just very mediocre. He can bounce back, but it’ll be tough without Kadri who was a beast for the Flames. Huberdeau’s passing & O-zone possession skill is still very good

  9. Unfortunately Calgary is a constant mid team, not good enough to make the playoffs, but not so bad we get a high draft pick. I hope that Conroy can build this team into a cup contender

  10. The Flames have long been a good year-bad year team. One good year, one bad year. Only it used to be the good years were 95-100 points and make the playoff and the bad years were 80 points and miss the playoffs. Now the good years are 90 points and barely miss the playoffs and the bad years are 75 points and miss the playoffs by a lot. The pattern says good year this year, meaning 88 or 90 points and miss the playoffs by 3 points, but then they'll end up drafting 14th or 15th again, which I don't think anybody wants. But their goaltending is good enough to keep them from being really terrible. For Coronato I think we were hoping he'd be a 30-35 goal guy, but now it looks like he'll be a 20-25 goal guy, which isn't bad, but we really need those other 10 goals.
