  1. Definitely anybody who thinks Jared needs fired after last season I don’t care about their opinion. We had the best record in the west, and we made the Western Conference finals.
We also apparently have had the best winning percentage over the last however, many years, the hockey guy said
If this year, we only win 42 games and are a wildcard team and we lose early now you have an argument

  2. Hard for me to look at this team and say they're any better than years gone by. Barring coaching changes, and perhaps a lot of luck, I have pretty middling expectations for them in the playoffs.

  3. Is it just me but you /Shannon sound a bit "outide" / silent. Maybe mic positioning or maybe just my summer cold attack. And my ears are like dogshit… Feeblest notion and you doing these is always wellcome as U am reboded to bored to check your years old stuff. :). Definitely THG. Consuistencestancy. 🙂 I went years old stuff. Just consistent and this is why I as a Finn order and always thumb up Shannon. He pretty never got it wrong and he is honest if so happens. Most loveable guy in Canada for all I care. 😉

  4. Last season was our best chance for another Cup. I can't see it happening now. I really hope I'm wrong, but when the playoffs begin, everything resets. And with Bednar at the helm…we better hope there's no running into Dallas or Vegas again.

  5. Interesting article in one of the Denver rags the other day about Cale being the best D of all time and blah blah , on and on. Yes, Cale Makar is a great D, no doubt. Is he currently the best in the NHL? No, he isn't. Did it surprise me that Zach won? Not at all. It may be my eyes are failing me, but Cale was not his normal self this last season. Nagging injuries are entirely possible as the cause of his off season. My concern is more located between his ears. My take is that he had an off year. Every athlete has a few of them in their careers, already looking forward to this coming season. As to the article about the best D ever? No, a healthy/prime Orr is still the best D so far. Yes, I am an old fart but I have been spoiled at seeing Orr in the Boston Gardens and Cale in Denver. Now, if only we could put Cale into Dr. Peabody's Wayback Machine……………………

  6. This is one of the few seasons where I'm satisfied with the depth to start the season. Wedgewood has become a fan favorite and I do wonder how they distribute the goalie time. Still gotta figure out the power play. But it smells like a good season.

  7. Am I the only one that has noticed a pattern in the last couple of years that the President's Trophy winner from the year before misses the playoffs the season after that? New York Rangers won the Presidents Trophy in 2024, and missed the 2025 playoffs. Then the Winnipeg Jets won it in 2025, and missed the 2026 playoffs. I think that will repeat again, and the Colorado Avalanche, winners of the President's Trophy in 2026, will miss the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Seems like the President's Trophy curse has expanded.

  8. 2018 Caps
    2020-21 Lightning
    2022 Avs
    2023-25 Panthers

All of these teams have either made the Final or won the Cup the year AFTER winning the President's Trophy

Only 3 winners since 2014 (2014 Bruins, 2024 Rangers, & 2025 Jets) missed the playoffs

Among the other winners, all but one team (2018 Preds) lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion the following year

TLDR; I wouldn't doubt this team if everyone is reasonably healthy

  9. I'm predicting the Colorado Avalanche to make it back to the playoffs this season, but probably won't win the President's Trophy. Then again, do you really wanna win it again?

  10. Been awhile since 2022. Something tells me they'll be close again but come up short. 1st in the Central with 108-113 points. They're my pick to lose in the Final.

  11. I have zero faith as a Avs fan, yes we do well in the normal season but damn after Jan we ether go ham or burnout. Plus if we didn't win again with Moose, Makar, Nathan we're not winning with Makar, Nathan and healthy Lande. On paper our roster looks good but being healthy destroyed us the past few 2 seasons and the crap we had to deal with Valeri and his shenanigans.

  12. Avs peaked in 2022 and they'll never reach that point again, at least not anytime soon. I think going forward they'll be a team that consistently makes it to the playoffs, but always an out in the first or second round. Once Bednar gets let go they'll probably get worse. Then I imagine more of their stars will start to leave. I can see McKinnon and landi staying until retirement, but everyone else is fair game to leave for greener pastures.

  13. I’m surprised this team doesn’t have more cups than 2022. Also, if Bednar would happen to get cut loose, it would behoove Columbus to make a move for him to go back into their organization.
