3. I’ve been a CBJ fan my whole life. I’m turning 30 this year and my dad took my twin and I to the first ever game and we’ve been (sadly) hooked ever since.

   This team is cursed. Idk how else to put it. They find ways to lose and screw up situations that I’ve never seen ever in any other team in the NHL.

   Whenever we do have something positive we have MONUMENTAL fallbacks that are sometimes not in our control but some that are.

   I appreciate you Shannon for your support and there are (YES THERE ARE) die hard CBJ fans that are begging for this team to finally build some sort of respect and confidence in this league.

8. They remind me of the Hartford Whalers of the eighties. Hartford had some pretty good teams but were never any kind of legitimate threat. The Whalers did manage to finish first in their division once, and Columbus has never even done that. Under Torts at least they tried hard and were a tough team to play against. If that's the best you can say about a franchise after 25 years, that franchise is a failure.

9. You can't forget that they had Johnny Gaudreau. The legitimate superstar who signed a seven year deal when he could choose anywhere.

10. Last season was brutal, out with 40 wins while the Kings made it in with 35 wins. It’s not that Columbus is bad, it’s just 3points where needed in the past two seasons but they far to often lost in regular time and didn’t get to overtime like a lot of other Teams

11. This is why they should cancel Columbus as a team and bring back Hartford or Quebec.

12. I was in Columbus last week and everyone was so nice and cool, especially the dudes working at the practice facility attached to Nationwide. I am a Ducks STH and they couldnt believe my EC team is the Jackets and I am always pulling for them. Been pulling for Columbus since day one. Small market, midwest team in a good town. Want nothing for the best of them and for the great state of Ohio!!

13. One of the biggest mistakes during Bettman's tenure ( there's a lot of them), was awarding franchises to least deserving markets!! Columbus falls into that category. It has never caught on, as the league would hope. With that being said, the best thing for the franchise, would be a change in ownership. It just seems that there's a lack of engagement, towards the public under the current owner.

15. During the first intermission of game one against the Bolts in 2019, legend Phil Esposito was on the desk for the Tampa Bay broadcast. Mind you the Bolts were up 3-0 at this point and could seemingly score at will. Espo's analysis was something to the effect of 'I don't like what I'm seeing. I think we're in trouble.' That's the point I realized how much more hockey knowledge that man has than anyone else I've ever heard talk hockey.

16. Blue Jackets are looking pretty good for this year. A great mix of younger players with good experience and longer term veterans that have a lot of game. If the room comes together and they play never quit hockey they will be tough.

    Players that leave teams looking for a winner are losers I wouldn’t have one a team if it were up to me. Ther pond they are in is the NHL, and if that isn’t good enough, who wants them? Panarin and Duchene stick around and Jackets very likely are a great team. So Duchene goes to the Preds and Panarin goes to the Rangers. For whatever they won, who cares? Not like being on an up and coming team and it makes to the top, which is magic. I remember Briere and Drury on a really good looking up and coming Sabres team and Briere goes to the Flyers and Drury goes to the Rangers. Neither team won the cup and who cares what they won. Both would have been legends if they stayed and the Sabres even just did as well as the Rangers. Look at Perrault and Martin, amoung others.

    Columbus is essentially Ohio for hockey. Not such a small market. 2 NFL teams, 2 MLB teams and an NBA team. Great sports market. You go to a regular season game in Toronto, building is sold out but half empty. Nationwide from my experience is always full or near full. Toronto fans are all old geezers who at best give a weak go leafs go between whiffs of albuterol. Nationwide is loaded with kids.

    Now I am biased, for sure. I first got into hockey as a kid in the plains of Saskatchewan. Everyone played hockey. They had outdoor rinks with little huts and wood stoves everywhere. We had the greatest hockey league that ever existed, the Saskatchewan Major Junior Hockey League. Everybody knew all the players on all the teams, they were somebodies brother or cousin or neighbor. The arenas were loaded with kids. First games I went to were in Melville, which was literally a barn. I see that spirit in Nationwide arena. The SMJHL was legislated out of major junior hockey by the eastern powers that be. Places like Melville and Weyburn and Yorkton aren’t good enough for major hockey in Canada, and the same thing was done across Canada,. Needless to say hockey has declined quite a bit in Canada since then.

    Best player in the SMJHL when I was a kid was Bobby Clarke. Nobody wanted him. He was drafted in the second round despite being the best player in junior hockey. I also have had a herniated disc for many years. I know Lindstrom can make it big.

17. Like I've said, we had doug mclean as coach and general manager in the early days and he set us back at least 10 years

18. Jarmo's time as GM was hit and miss because he never put together a team that had an identity, and when Torts was there, he never added players that fit his style. There was always this disconnect. The Elmo curse is real.

19. Been a fan since it was created. My dad was in charge of the brickwork for the arena. This team… is a joke. We have numerous 30+ year olds signed for long periods of time with large cap hits that have NMC, can't develop talent, a dry pipeline, and stars that want out. There's a reason why I chose to start cheering for a second team. The jackets will NEVER win a cup, and be LUCKY if they make the playoffs and win a single series. Management is old and thinks "blue collar grinder" will win always, ownership doesn't care since they still get money in their pockets as the arena is an away barn, and a lot of the CBJ fans just don't understand hockey or only watch it a couple of times as a "night out".

20. Their arena was built on the site of a penitentiary that caught fire and killed over 300 people. That sounds like some sort of curse.

22. The Lindstrom pick was a huge unforced error that derailed the rebuild. I remember leading up to the draft most CBJ fans were drooling over the chance of Demidov falling to the 4th pick. He does… but the front office goes big brain and rolls the dice on a power center with back issues?!? Moronic

23. They need to invest in more or better amateur scouting and development. They've had enough high draft picks for a long time and very rarest makes the right picks

Ohio is almost an Eastern state, almost a Midwestern state, with several large cities that should theoretically support a good NHL environment as they do several other major sports franchises, but these tend to be attracted to Cleveland and Cincy. Even Akron, Dayton, and Toledo are sports hubs after a fashion. So, why does the CBJ always get branded with also-ran status by the league and NHL fans in general? That "playoff line" shows how rarely they get into the playoff but also how tough it is for them to keep players of impact. I think the future of the CBJ is tied to whether or not they can resign Werenski before the two years left on his contract runs out. Will they resign Fantilli, Sillinger, and Greaves? Watch what's happens with these three to see which way the wind is blowing.

32. As a CBJ fan that has been here since birth I have to admit I am worried about the future. In 10 years time I fear that the board will look extremely similar to how it already does. I think we are entering another time similar to 2019-2021 where all of our best players leave crippling the team. Until deals are signed I still consider Werenski and Marchenko as already having left the team. We are going to be up against the cap after hopefully signing all of our RFAs. It seems like we are entering a full rebuild era for the team with a GM, Ownership, Fanbase, and team construction unwilling or unable to accept this possibility. I hope for the best for the Blue Jackets and would rather go down with the ship than ever change teams. But I must admit the life of a CBJ fan is just pain haha

34. Not a die-hard fan, but I've watched them for a long time. Columbus can't do anything, and the things they aim to do right blows up in their faces. They don't develop young guys, and the ones that show promise want out. No team identity, no structure, and they keep trying to recreate the Torts vibes, but lack the personnel to successfully do it.

    I still don't believe Don Waddell is the answer. His ceiling thus far in three years as GM is fringe wildcard team. And that will get them nowhere

35. For me [in Vancouver], CBJ are probably the most "stealth" team. Few people around here think about them at all, excerpt for the most thorough hockey watchers like THG. You never hear much of them in the local media, unless our team is playing them or trading with them. One struggles to think of who is even on their roster, much less how those players are doing. Playoffs? Yes? No? … Bueller? Good to get a summary like this, or I would genuinely not know almost nothing about them. 😶‍🌫
