Montreal Canadiens need help at 2C and we weigh a bold move: should the Habs pursue Claude Giroux as a short-term fix at center? With Giroux’s veteran presence and faceoff dominance, we debate whether the 38-year-old Ottawa Senators forward could be the ideal mentor for rising stars Michael Hage and Ivan Demidov—or merely a sign of missed opportunities for the Habs’ long-term rebuild.
The conversation shifts to Alex Carrier’s season, dissecting his challenging defensive assignments and whether fan criticism was warranted. Key topics include roster construction on the Canadiens blue line, the evolving strategy for the Laval Rocket’s development pipeline, and listener questions covering best (and worst) Habs moments, possible trades for Samuel Montembeault, and which NHL legends deserve their names on major trophies. Can the Canadiens strike the right balance between experience and youth to set up their future?

Giroux is done… Danault, Evans, kapanen and veleno are better and much younger than Giroux
No room for him, who do you take out of lineup if you add Giroux? Really bad move in my opinion. That’s a desperate move. We are not a desperate team. 106 point season and final 4 in playoffs! Giroux is a wast of money and will prevent a younger player from gaining valuable experience
Sounds like a really good fit !!
Habs must get a center number 2, first thing! Giroux should be last on the priority list…he is not a number 2.
For me the summer they let Markov and Radulov go
Question for the mailbag, how about Struble and Gally for filip Chytil
LOL – Claude Giroux? Can only assume this is a joke – Giroux will be 39 next January!
While they're at it – why don't the Habs see if Jacques Lemaire will consider coming out of retirement? Maybe Pete Mahvolich!
lmao. this is copium. First off, no chance he leaves ottawa. Second, why would you take a 39 yr old? Horrid take.
NO re: Giroux……he's 38 yo!!!!!
He's not the answer to the Habs' 2C needs.
