  1. A better than bargain basement type of player needs to be obtained. No one has replaced or even come near to replacing Guentzal. At least they need to try to get someone as close to possibly as good as Jake!

  2. Rutherford made many trades, many L's but more W's. And a lot of the W's were subtle moves that at the time weren't seen as great as when they happened. Hagelin is an example, Matheson is another. Watching Matheson play a phenomenal two way play in these playoffs and still skating like the wind is hard to watch when he was once a Penguin

  3. How bout giving Springfield some credit, since Steve Ott taken over he’s done a remarkable turnaround, has his team playing and believing in team first ,

  4. You want top scoring prospects, you need to draft high. Can’t have it both ways. Either tank or get used to this. Otherwise you empty out the draft and prospects for already developed players, but that comes with a price too. And no you’re not getting anything for Rust or Rakell.

  5. DK – Robert Thomas should be the primary target of Dubas. He's a 26 year old first-line-center. It will cost a lot, but as long as they don't have to give up Kindel, Horcoff or Zonnon, Dubas should throw everything else they have to get him.

  6. I’m not ready to doom and gloom the prospect pool because of one bad game against a team that has been winning gutsy games the entire playoffs. Especially, a team whose goaltender has been playing equally as well as Murashov. These baby pens have actually been doing a really good job of winning close games. Something our NHL team can’t do. It’s the first game they’ve been shut out in 8 games. Against Hershey they averaged 3.25 goals a game. We’re boo hooing because our most recognizable prospects are at .5 ppg over 8 games? In the first round of the playoffs against the Flyers the Pens had two players above .5 ppg (Crosby and Rakell). Malkin and Karlsson were the only other guys to reach .5 ppg.

  7. Just had the highest scoring offense of the Crosby era…need to limit chances on the backend as Dubas mentioned in this presser. But yes, the Pens had the oldest average age of their top 5 scorers out of every team in the league.

  8. People forget its the AHL. Its a totally different level even if its considered to be a professional league. In Game 4, WBS made the same exact mistake that Pittsburgh made for the last 5 years under Sullivan. They just kept wanting to make 1 more pass for an open net tap in instead of putting the puck on the net and getting to the paint. If they would have stopped trying to force the extra pass, they probably could have put 4-5 goals on the board. YES, I watched the entire game.

Also, that 2nd goal against Murashev was just a pure lucky play. The puck flew up in the air off some sort of deflection while Murashev was at the top of the crease. Puck just happened to take the perfect trajectory off the deflection to go over Murashev's head, land in the crease, and bounce into the net. Had that goal not happened, things may have been different. Heck, had WBS not even made the playoffs, nobody would be criticizing ANY of these younger guys.

Also, 50-75% of guys who play in the AHL never establish themselves as permanent NHL players. People are over reacting to the whole deal. Who cares if WBS wins the Calder Cup? Still translates into absolutely nothing as far as the NHL goes or if players will make the NHL and stick
