I may sound stupid asking this, we have a first round pick this year?
4:36 LTIR isn’t an option if the player is medically cleared to participate. League rules prohibit placing any healthy/available player on LTIR.
So, if a player has a chronic ailment, but he’s still able to participate, and he still wants to participate despite his chronic ailment, then LTIR is not an option.
Sweeney has made 43 draft picks since 2018
The total number of the 43 who've turned out to be even average NHLers?
ZERO
Of the 43 here whose even played in the NHL
Lauko- A 4th line throwaway Sweeney threw away twice
Beecher-Worthless
Lysell-Bust
Poitras AHLer they like less than Steeves & Essyimont
Lohrei-Soft & incapable of playing defense
That's the haul from those 43 draft these past 8 years
Since 2015 Don Sweeney has made 65 draft picks and only 4 play for Boston today
38 forward picks since 2015 by Sweeney & the only Top 6-ish forward ever drafted & developed was cry baby Jake Debrusk drafted 11 FN years ago
The last Dman Sweeney drafted that can actually play defense?
Charlie McAvoy who was drafted a decade ago
41 combined 3rd-7th forward & or Dman picks since 2015
The forward games played leader of those 41 picks?
4th line throwaway Jacob Lauko's 83 lousy games for Boston
The games played leader of those picks at defense?
Frederic Brunet & his one lousy NHL game
What NHL team has been the worst drafting & developing team for over a decade?
The Boston Bruins
What NHL team that gives the fewest opportunities to their prospects to develop in the NHL?
The Boston Bruins
Whose Farm System was ranked 27th to dead last & 32nd from 2015-2025?
The Boston Bruins
So, does it have even really matter who Don Sweeney drafts anymore at this point?
Becuase even if they draft a good player, that player will just get buried in Providence for 5 or more years until they lose all value to both them and every other NHL team
Their own prospects are starting to not sign with them because there is no path to the NHL for them with Boston
And the next time a sought after college UFA is out there to be signed like John Farinacci
That college UFA will avoid Boston like the plague because again there is no path to the NHL for them in Boston
Now if you're a washed up veteran that's a bottom 6 forward turd or bottom of the roster useless Dman….
Those players will get three year deals, NTCs and mountains of playing time
It's called Bruins😂
You could hope someone good is left at 23, but I would make an effort to move up. St. Louis has the 11 and 15. At 15 you could possibly get Suvanto or Novotny. Or move up to 20 with San Jose to get Piiparinen.
The Bs are lousy at developing because the first rule of Boston Bruins is “you make the playoffs every year.” So cheap older players with some experience are put in to ensure a playoff spot at the expense of youth. It’s been happening for years. It’s quite convenient to make players beat out vets for roster spots because the goal is always to make the playoffs at the expense of building a long term consistent winner.
Why can’t the Bs find gems in the 2nd round? Because the Bruins only scout in two places…Boston area colleges and Sweden. You’d think all those years of having Bergy, Marsh, and Krejci would be a hint that you need to cast a wider net.
I agree a trade makes the most sense. Tony Deangelo wouldn’t be a terrible option for 2nd pair RD… he’s never really had a big contract and will give you 30-40 pts. Only issue is he probably comes with lots of baggage…which is why his price tag has been low
