The only reason I want a top 2 pick is because I think if the Canucks get either McKenna or Stenberg and plug him with EP40, at minimum, it will raise Petey's stock so we can either move him or keep him as the case may be. Anyone suggesting we dump him and retain salary for the next decade isn't a serious person. I'd rather eat the contract and at least have a 3rd line centre who can be the Guy Charbonneau type when the team gets good again. And if the Canucks don't get a top 2 pick, I'd look at Caleb Malhotra. Potentially, you're looking at centre depth that could be any combination of Malhotra/Cootes/EP40/Rossi/Raty. Nobody there jumps out as a superstar, but the Bruins didn't need a superstar centre to beat us in 2011. That's pretty serious depth down the middle.

17. Has anyone ever asked the core fundemental question "Does EP40 want to play NHL Hockey"? Have you ever known a person who was off the charts in (fill in the blank) say art. They can draw with world class skills AND they have no interest in pursuing art. It happens. Maybe Elias Pettersson isn't into the demands that the NHL asks for. I say he played on a good team that was firing on all cyclinders during 2023/2024 and he loaded up points AND was pushed into signing a BIG longterm contract. Going into 2026/2027: If EP40 does not produce in a meaningful way (80 point pace or better) by game 30, then trade for the best deal on the table, what ever that is.
