The Minnesota Wild scored three times in the second period of Game 1 and never looked back, beating the Dallas Stars 6-1 to take a 1-0 series lead Saturday at American Airlines Center. Matt Boldy (2 goals, 1 assist), Kirill Kaprizov (1 goal, 2 assists) and Mats Zuccarello (3 assists) all had three point games, while Joel Eriksson Ek scored two power play goals and Ryan Hartman has two points (1 goal, 1 assist) to pace the Minnesota offense. Jason Robertson scored the lone Dallas goal on a second period power play, which at the time cut the Wild lead to 4-1, but that was as close as the Stars would get in game. The stars suck. No effort what so ever
There is no doubt of the outcome of this game. Dallas played the same style of hockey they been losing games with. And every team knows. They don't pressure forecheck, so they allow every team to play in there end. Which results in them getting out shot. Teams super forecheck Dallas, and Dallas will turnover the puck. Which results in goals. Wild played blue line lock on Stars powerplay. Which kept the Stars to several shots. Stars are beat. When the Stars check hard, forecheck hard. Shoot more than 25 shots in a game. They win. They play like this, Wild wins in a sweep or win 5 out of 7.

I'm an Avs fan but I really enjoy this crew. Knowledgable and realistic about what it takes to win in the playoffs. Good show guys. Only one game at the end of the day. Hope to see you in the 2nd round.

Rantanen took two lazy penalties and on the third goal he could’ve checked Faber to slow the breakout and Faber just muscled right by him. Sure he’s a gifted offensive player but he needs to do more if the Stars are going to come back

The play leading-up to the Wild second goal was where nobody helped Nils behind the Wild net and then the Wild were able to get it out and through the neutral zone too easy, which culminated with Kaprizov having all day to shoot.

I liked Benn with Hyry. Could see Hryckowian being moved back to the Johnston line.
How did the Stars get outhit? Usually the team without puck control gets the greater amount of hits.

Wild fan here the thing that sticks out to me is how often dal allows cross ice passes that leave guys wide open. It happened in reg season games also.

The one thing I don’t agree with is the comment regarding the “accidentally fall on a player” shit.. the rest of this pod was honestly well done but to sit there and openly say maybe we have to go out and “accidentally fall on someone” to get into the game is pathetic, and if ANY team said that openly about ANY other team you would all agree.. you don’t go to a wild podcast and hear them say maybe we need to go out there and accidentally hurt their guy, that’s bottom tier, low class shit.. be better

Pretty embarrassing loss. It's reminiscent of the 5-1 loss against the Avs to start the series last year. Wild should be very pleased with that win. Dallas needs to get their crap figured out.
