I have no dog in this fight, but few things frustrate me more when watching an NHL game is when players take themselves out of the play to have a discussion with the referee. This isn’t the worst thing that’s ever happened to Karlsson and it looks like he let the stick go pretty easily in frustration. It’s technically a penalty, but he could have fought harder to hang onto it (at least that’s what it looks like to me). No matter how angry you are, just stay in the freakin play.

In soccer, it's equivalent to falling down on your backside, then looking for the ref with outstretched arms, while the play continues. And the commentator is a lip reader, telling everyone what was being said. They look at multiple replays to get a good look. The ref was looking at the play along the boards. Karlsson's actions may well have affected the keeper's concentration as well, based on his flapping his arms after the goal.
I watched this live. This was the biggest garbage no call of the crooked NHL season. Every game in the league is fixed now- just watch the betting odds they post pre, and during the game. The NHL has been ruined like every other pro sport.
Its a shame Rakell couldnt have cross checked him after he circled back around to him and made it worth it to him to commit a penalty he didn’t get called for.
The down low official was correctly watching the puck, its the high official who should have seen it. Why have 2 refs if they are both staring at the same thing?
