  1. Will head into next year as my 49th year team…..but like alot of us I am disappointed when it was within our grasp

  2. I hope Schaefer can get one more goal after this brutal ending. He has been the highlight of the season, the record will be icing on the cake.

  3. My emotion is disappointment. Yes, they weren't expected to be a playoff team but they were sitting 2nd in the division for a long time. The collapse of the last 4 weeks is just gut wrenching. Just a few more points or a couple more key wins and they would have be in.

  4. While the team overachieved, the GM underachieved and disappointed ! The team needed scoring and he didn’t get it done, granted teams wanted the younger players and he didn’t give them up but you can’t tell me there wasn’t 1 scorer he couldn’t make a decent trade for. Major overhaul is needed this offseason but Lou may have made that a major obstacle for Darshe

  5. The schenn trade alone would of been ok, the other 2 were a disaster and could of had George and shabonov in those spots instead, more speed and talent and maybe we win some of those late game blunders or secure a couple loser points which would of been enough and Chicago.
Edit: darche did realize his mistake with drouin, I believe he’ll do the same with palat, I think Lee walks or retires, duclair will be traded, engval will be bought out

  6. Get something for Lee, trade Barzal(after 9 seasons) for a goal scorer, trade Pulock and Mayfield for starters. You cannot make a run with the worst PP in the league. Game to game is a crap shoot, no consistency.

  7. I honestly didn't expect much from this team this year, but Schaefer seemed to add that youthful spark they needed, so while I'm very disappointed at the way it ended, I am hoping for more youth in next years lineup, like Eklund, Eiserman and even Aitchenson. If Darche can trade some of the older guys and get something for them, then do it. As much as I like Barzal, I'm wondering if they can trade him for something better now. They can get a nice return for Sorokin if they eventually choose to trade him one day, but they need a top goaltending prospect to even consider doing that. To bring in a game breaker this year would have cost the Isles one or more of their great prospects, so I'm glad they chose not to. Montreal did a great job rebuilding their team through drafting and trading for guys like Suzuki, so hopefully the Isles can do the same. The Dobson trade actually worked out well for both the Habs and the Isles. Hopefully Darche has a great draft and a solid off season, as I do like all the moves he has made so far, although trading that late Colorado 1st round pick for Schenn didn't work out, as it's a chip they could have used at the upcoming draft.

  8. Think how flexible this team with be if idiot gm just did nothing 2 first round picks and over 20 mill in cap room

  9. I think Schaefer ran out of gas. I’d love to see him get at least 1 more point, preferably a goal. Would love to see him break the rookie defenseman goal record, and would love to see him get to 60 points.

  10. I hope Darche learned that making no move is better than making bone head dreamer moves. Between Darche and Lou, this roster has $20 mil of junk to dump. Please don't give up picks to clean it up.

  11. They did overachieve because no one expected this 18 year old phenom carrying them. BUT, we knew going in that the power play had to be better. And it wasn't. The power play has gone trhrough Barzal forever and it has been atrocious. Its time to change this team and Barzal has 9 teams he can go to. The last thing we need is for the young kids come in and try to emulate Barzal. Barzal emulated Josh Bailey who never shot the puck enough. Could you imagine this fan base if Darche sold at the trade deadline saying its not our year???? Schenn has lead the team in points since his arrival. A question should be where did Bo Horvat go since the Olympics? MIA. 16 games since March 10 and not one OT point? I guess that Ottawa loss with 12 seconds left killed their season

  12. THE PROBLEM WITH THE ISLANDERS – THEY HAVE NO SNIPERS- THE LIGHTING HAVE 4 SNIPERS . They will never succeed without one. REALITY . Is Bossy still alive ? Who cares if Eiserman is ready -THE ISLANDERS ARE READY FOR EISERMAN. The owners spent 25 million on a coach with no money left for a 45 goal scorer . STUPID RICH PEOPLE. THE TOP 10 TEAMS IN THE NHL ALL HAVE SNIPERS.

  13. You know how you get a guy to waive his ā€œno tradeā€ clause??? You tell him that the team has decided to move on from YOU and that you will be playing in Hamilton next season and will only see the NHL if we need a call up. Period, END OF STORY. If the player wants that, then demand you are staying. I don’t know any player who wants to continue his career accepting that.

  14. I think we are going to find that Bo Horvat’s Olympic injury had lingering effects, which would explain his drop off.

  15. It's easy to lock in to "what went wrong" with this ending but this season has so many positives. We have a really good future ahead of us

  16. lack of scorers once again and aging this roster for an ill fated playoff run did isles in. darche is a fool if he thinks this is just a coaching problem. those old guy moves and coaching change all have gramps louzer written all over them.

  17. Can these veterans get the team into the po’s and realistically win at least 2 rounds?
If Schaefer went from #7 to #1 d that says a lot.
Maybe with Palmeiri on the pp and Romanov they would have gained 4 more points?
Appropriately that last seconds loss in OTT denied them OT and 11-0 in OT. They then proceeded to lose to OTT again, PHA BUF and PITT, all playoff rivals.
Barzy in OT was great but the regular season came down to relying on Sorokin.

  18. Goal scoring is a problem, Horvat's 1 goal in the last 10 games problem, backup goal tending leading to Sorokin not as sharp. Just to name a few.

  19. Defense is so overrated. They are average at best. Mayfield aggravates me. Dumb penalties, out of position, just atrocious at times. Pulock also, can’t skate, or is just lazy. What does he do very well? Not great skater, not a great defender or offensively, yes he has hard shot, but rarely shoots and when he does. He generally misses the net. Pelech, the most overrated defenseman on the team. Media makes him out to be this amazing defender. He’s not. He might be the isles best defender, but that’s not saying much. What aggravates me about Pelech is how he will just dump the puck out of the zone instead of getting it up to the forwards. It will be a shooting gallery on Sorokin and the second we get the puck. Pelech will flip it right back to the opposition and run for a line change and the cycle repeats. The shooting gallery continues. I’d rather go with Deangelo who u know isn’t a great defender, but he will work his ass off and is good offensively. U need every player to do something very good and I can’t figure it out for this like mayfield, Pelech and pulock when u have medicine players on defense and an elite goalie, u will be a fringe playoff team. U have to address the defense. Hopefully darche sees it.

  20. Don’t think u can blame horvat. Have to blame the rest of the team. Barzal seems lazy at times. Not hustling. Not skating. Annoying

  21. The isles are not a good 5v5 & they are even worse 5v4 but what they were great at this year was 3v3. They were 10-0 in OT regulation. Thats roughly 25% of their wins came because of 3v3. So when asked ā€œwhat happened?ā€ They didn’t get to OT in the last 16 games of the season. If they got to 3 OTs and just one 1-2 they would be in. They are not a playoff team but they are a really good 3v3 OT team.
