He looks like shell of himself. Thought 5 year deal was a little much
Need to be smoking rocks to think Jake walman was worth anything near 3 million let alone giving him that huge contract. That dude was a man wearing a dress. It was all show. Hahahahaha to the people who thought he was good. Hahahaha.
Not Gonna Lie I Don’t Mind Jake Walman
The Walman 7X7 has to be the worst contract in hockey history. Heads should roll over this as even casuals could give you an a-toad-a-so for this one.
Yzerman made the right decision on Jake, good luck to him.
Farewell jake, we hardly knew ye
People just liked him because he did a funny dance
Who?? Ahh the guy that lost Oilers the Stanley Cup.. Oh wait that was Bouchard. So who is this guy? lmao
I'm sure his Fortnite stats are looking good
Well, I guess it makes me feel a tiny bit better. But still….
Was it the right decision, probably. We don't know why it happened in the first place. Was it the right way to get rid of him with a 2nd round pick absolutely not.
Walman dissed Kane and some other veterans so Stevie Y shipped his azz out! I liked Walman, but it was the best choice to ship him out for our young defensman to get more experience. Look at our amazing Yong defensman now and look at Walman lol.
I wish I was a fly on the wall in Detroit when this guy was here.
he got traded for a 1st so no, he basically gave up that 1st and a 2nd to get rid of walman, terrible move 😂
Regardless of the current contract, I still don't see why the wings couldn't have gotten something for him or wouldn't put him on waivers first. If no one was interested in a trade, fine, but I don't see why they wouldn't have tried waivers first. Sometimes guys are even more valuable after they clear waivers, I don't know, probably one of those things we will never know the answer to– there had to be some reason for the immediacy of getting him off the team.
I liked Walman when he was a Wing, but I understand business. What I didn’t understand was sending him away with a 2nd round pick for “future considerations”. Nothing… then a season and a half later or so he fetched a 1st round pick?! Steve Yzerman couldn’t even get a depth AHL’er for him?! It was obvious there was some sort of major falling out, and a year letter when pressed, after Walman was traded, Yzerman was pressed again about it and he only said he wasn’t going to address it. That’s what burns me the most. If he fell out of favor with Detroit coaching, or in the locker room, say that, be vague if you want… but as fans we were never given any more than that. I’ve just always been curious, why?
I told a few friends Stevie Y would dump Walman after he did his 2nd little gritty dance. Analytics had nothing to do with it.
How does any of this justify giving away a pick when the next team recieved a pick for him? Are you hard up for content? It was a bad trade. I guarantee you Steve didn't give away a pick to teach him a lesson…
So the Sharks are the real winners still 😂 followed by Detroit and Edmonton but to be fair that's a typical Ken Holland contract 🙄
Thank you for the update and not a trade rumor.
Of course Yzerman made the right choice.
I gotta admit I waited in line for 2 hours to get a Walkman bobble head. But the rumor has I heard was Jake was messing around with one of Yzerman’s daughters and that was it, get out!
Yes, but . . . . the griddy.
Steve Yzerman needs to be shipped out himself. Yzerman has pushed the Wings into a decade's worth losing streak not making the playoffs. When will the Illitch family terminate Yzerman's role as GM? I feel for their coach, Todd McClellan. There isn't much more he can do to get this roster to play like their lives depended on it. Raymond isn't producing like I would have expected, and Moritz Seider cannot play any better offense as a defenseman—– Seider is too much of a soccer hockey player. Hockey is not soccer. In soccer, if the fans are lucky, the teams on the field will score 1 or 2 goals most of the time——- an extremely boring sport…. In hockey, it's up and down the rink 20 to 30 miles per hour, and the hall of fame superstar defensemen scored goals in their career—- they didn't play soccer hockey like Seider plays. For Seider to be a superstar hall of fame prodigy, he needs to be an offensive threat as well as a beast on defense, just like Larry Robinson was for the Canadiens. Fat chance, I say….. Anyhow, waiting for the Wings ownership to shIp out Steve Yzerman on and for all, and find a true winner as a GM. YZERMAN failed once again at the trade deadline to solidify a hopeful playoff spot. Seems like every other team out there is taking shots at the Wings and give absolutely no respect to them bc they're truly overrated and Yzerman had, once again, relied on this current staff to get the team into the playoffs. His stubbornness is truly bothersome. At least Ken Holland and Jimmy Devellano got the Wings to win 4 Stanley Cups in 10-11 years. What has YZERMAN done since he's been here? Rave about his draft picks? Give me a break….
I am curious too but what makes fans think we are OWED the information Yzerman used to make his decision.
Yzerhatets will not like
I just wish the Wings would STOP COLLAPSING in March and finally make the dang playoffs!
The Walman fans like to watch highlights and celebrations. Walman has always been this bad. The man has invisible friends in his own zone. It’s probably the worst contract in the league. There’s a reason Yzerman AND Armstrong gave up on him.
There were reportedly multiple GM’s saying they would have picked him up had he been waived. The most likely scenario is Yzerman had to move him quickly to make room for Trouba and couldn’t wait for waivers. This whole scenario is confusing and honestly was an inexcusable waste of a 2nd round pick no matter how you spin it, due diligence was not done one way or another.
the guy has bad stats for half a season and that's weird? I don't understand content creators. This feels like click bait.
Be honest what had he really done in Edmonton,ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.Yzerman made the right decision to let him go so that we could have enough cap to extend seider and Raymond.
he has never been good efensively. cant believe he is getting 7 mil a year
My theory is Kane didn’t like him and he’d only sign back if Walman was gone. But terrible trade could’ve got at least a 3or 4th round pick back.
Us San Jose sharks would gladly have Walman back on the sharks
